Whats with Lexus, did they have to steal the design of the BMW's ?
At least, thats how I see it, Instead of being a trend setter, they are a follower.

As one who bought one of the first 1990 LS400's new, who bought one of the last LS400's made and who never thought the LS430 was attractive or desirable, I think the new LS460 looks absolutely stunning - at least from the photos.

I can see buying a short wheel base LS460 when it comes time to replace our 2000 LS400 in about 2010 - 2014.

Does it look a little like a BMW 7-series? Well maybe, but it doesn't look all that much like the white 745Li that was beside me on the way home tonight. And the LS460 will not have anything like the dreaded BMW I-drive nor will it spend a lot of time in the repair shop.

I think that Toyota (ahem Lexus) has got it right with the LS460, new Camry and many other new models. By the way, Toyota stock closed today above $102. It has been a solid investment - look at the 20+ year trend: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=TM&t=my&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=

I heard that special Lexus owners will get invitations to preview the LS 460 in person around August, before the general public.

That's like next month. The new LS 460 is almost here. Can't wait to see them on the streets here in southern California...

I am very surprised that the automotive press hasn't test driven the LS460 by now. Is Lexus still keeping things secret? They must have cars coming off the production line by now, don't they? They should have a press-bash for some publicity. The fact that they are not (over 6 months after announcement) is beginning to get me worried... The car magazines should be full of articles about test drives. Hum.

Patience I don't think the wait would be too long. I hope we will start seeing some early reviews when I come back from vacation after mid-August . . .

Wow, nice thread to bring back. Anyhow, there have been at least 3 special previews: the opening of a Lexus dealership in Pennsylvania over a month ago, the CL exclusive preview around that time or earlier, and the recent invitation-only previews at Lexus of Glendale and Longo Lexus.

Plus some of us have gotten teaser brochures...will new previews come up soon? Anyhow, I'm not too surprised by the secrecy, although it annoys me a bit. Evidently, Lexus is keeping many, many of the details of this vehicle secret up to the very last moment.
