Default Blinking Cruise Control

Hi All,
I've had mixed issues with the cruise control, it was intermittent but now it doesn't seem to work. Last week it would enable and function for a couple hundred feet, then the "CRUISE" would blink in the dash. It worked for a couple days. Then this week it appears to have stopped working, enabling it now just shows the blinking name in the dash. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting? I've found info on older models, but I'm hoping someone has something quick and painless for this one, thanks!

More info needed, most importantly year of your LS.

My apologies for the delay, yes that's correct. It's an '08 LS460 with the standard cruise control.

I will put my learned bet on the brake pedal switch-sensor.
So, scan and replace.

Good morning, does that just mean to scan with an OBDII reader or is there something else?

No, i think you need something little more advanced (but not necessarily more expensive), techstream, compatible

The Carista app and a cheap OBDII Bluetooth adapter should be all you need.

oh neat! I just checked online and seen some Techstream software and scanner combos. Will buy and try, thank you for the additional info.

How do you feel about techstream vs Carista? Same software or much different? I might get both because I have a GM SUV and since they're inexpensive.

I had a similar issue and it was the brake stop switch located on the brake pedal area

Very few people use "pirated" Techstream unless they have a Win98 computer in good running order and are savvy about troubleshooting the program (mckellyb comes to mind). Carista is a smartphone app that is very user-friendly and allows to change a bunch of vehicle settings. However, Techstream is the Toyota software used by the dealership to diagnose and fix things, is very powerful and can provide access to a bunch of technical controls not available with Carista (such as changing air suspension height). So, you have to ask yourself what your needs are. I have Carista. It can diagnose, list and reset a lot of engine and other error codes. But I don't know if it can reset the blinking CC light. I am sure Techstream will be able to reset that light if there is nothing seriously wrong with your vehicle. Then again, it looks like your problem may be easily resolved without buying anything (CJITTY's post above). PM Carista with your question, and also check out their web site. I am very happy with the Carista adaptor and App. I have used it a couple of times. That investment of $60 has saved me over $100 and time spent at the dealership. Plus I can change "dealer-accessible" settings as often as I want (which is not that often ).

Lol..that's hilarious. But plenty of folks are running Win7 32bit with Chinese "Tekstream" and it works just fine. Carista is way easier though
