Default Wow! re: MPG

Mostly interstate, but some stop-and-go mixed in, because Austin, TX.

San Antonio to Fort Worth. Door to door, so several miles of surface streets, too. A few 8->4 or 5 downshifts as well. Speed was between 75-85 (I-35 is posted at 75).

And, yeah, even though it's early February, the A/C was on the entire time (upper-80s ambient).

The trip odometer merely marks when I last purchased fuel.

edit: It was reading 31.5 until we got north of Waco, which is where, even though there was little traffic, there was much more variation in speed because of, well, people who should be on some form of public transit.

Nice huh? I am very happy with my fuel/mileage as well, and it's similar to yours. Awesome.

Yep. Get about the same when primarily interstate and still stay within the 20's in the city. Guessing not having AWD certainly helps in this regard.

My sentiments exactly! I think the 4.6 is o.k. but I will take it over a (non-hybrid) v6 anyday.

Agreed - The V8 is a luxury. The V6 is a substitute.

McKelly - Awesome! I've had some high 29's. I might have even had a 30+ when I drove my LS home cross-country. It is quite an automobile.

Haven't quite had my LS for a month and I'm seeing 18.5 mixed for my commute from Round Rock into Austin, can't wait to see what she does on a long trip.

All in relative terms . When in TX, used to complain about those roads compare to FL ones. Now I feel TX roads are much better than these NE roads/ highways. I don't even like taking my LS out ..

Very nice. I think my best was 28mpg. For such a big car, that's not bad mileage.

16.9 or 18 or whatever low mpg is not a big surprise. I live and work in a smaller town. And mostly stay around here. My LS is a 4,500 pound behemoth with 385 hp. I do about 16 mpg around town. I'm not shocked by that. It's to be expected. But for that same behemoth to have the capability to knock down 30 mpg (granted ideal conditions) is amazing.
