Front grill clips
Besides a trip to dealer. And not the common ones. But there are two clips on the end of the grill.
And they are covered by the side engine covers so can't see them unless remove. These you use a common screwdriver and turn a half turn to remove.
I broke one off putting in radar detector and need to replace.
Still hate that they use so many cheap clips that I would not even use on a toy car. Especially the engine cover.
I mean really, how much more would a screw have cost.
Thanks for any help
PS for 2011 LS

I know exactly what plastic insert your speaking about, as I've removed my grille/front bumper cover quite a few times.
Agreed there are a lot of plastic inserts and clips used as fasteners beneath the hood, however, of manipulated correctly, they can serve their purpose without being compromised redundantly. I will say this though-the plastic used regarding these inserts in particular, could have been constructed of a more dense composition.
These two inserts are fairly quick release once the the 1/4 turn is completed.
These clips seem to be pretty Lexus specific though.
What I would do is contact Lexus and ask what the insert is called or obtain a part number and search ebay, but I can't imagine the inserts would cost very much at all. Then again, it is the dealership.
In the mean time, what you could do as a temporary fix, is use a zip tie, then once you've got the part you need, remove the zip tie and insert the new part.
Mine are still in pretty good shape but I guess I wouldn't mind a spare set.
If you decide to take this on, please keep us informed of your outcome.
Good luck!
