Default 2013-2015 LS460 vs. new 2016-17?

I tested the new 2016/17 LS460 and now I am looking at online ads for used ones from a few years back (from 2013-2015).
I am fussy about driver's seat comfort and driving position and front legroom (even lateral legroom) and wanted to know if the older models are just as good as the newer ones.
Are there any other significant drawbacks to the older models? The specifications seem the same to me, but you never know, so I thought I would ask here to be sure.
Thanks a million in advance for any help or advice. I appreciate it.
R in NJ.

The 13-15 will be virtually identical to the 16/17. Only difference is the 16s and up have the upgraded nav system which is a nice upgrade, with the available fullscreen nav. 13's and 14s have one nav system, 15 has another generation, then 16-17 has another.

I'm a new car buyer, so I would only buy a new one, but if you aren't averse to used cars theres nothing different between the 13-17 really.

Nothing to be fussy about when it comes to seat comfort and leg room. The LS (including older ones, SWB & LWB) will suit most drivers and riders when it comes to seating comfort, being comfortable and roominess.

I actually thought my GS had better seats than my LS does. Mine was a luxury that had the 18 way multi contour seats though, the F Sport's seats aren't quite as good.

Thanks for the info! Best to you. I did try the GS and the ES (2016 models) and they were fine, but I felt the LS seats and the driving position were much better.
The thigh support in the LS460 felt really good for my long legs and I also liked what I sensed was a higher seating position (after I adjusted them). The whole experience just seemed less confining. It felt more spacious and open and the seat pads had superior padding (all subjective). The ES and the GS seats were more plain-feeling, about on par with the Infiniti Q50 and Acura RLX that I tried. The ES and GS seats and driving position are comfortable, don't get me wrong here, but the LS460 seats feel like they were designed for a taller person and have insulate you more from the mechanical side of the car.

For some reason when I replied to dlbucks above I thought that we were in another thread where we were discussing the LS and GS which is why I brought the GS up.

In the area of seating, you have to sit in a GS with the luxury package (very rare), they have a very special set of 18 way power multicontour seats thats have a articulating backrest (the backrest has a hinge 2/3rds of the way up that contours the backrest to the shape of your upper back), butterfly headrests, power adjustable bolsters as well as the thigh extender we have on the LS. Frankly, way better seats than what is in the LS, best seats I've had in a Lexus. Now, that said I wouldn't trade back to my GS to have those seats back lol. Compared to an ordinary GS I agree those seats are nothing special. Another big plus for those luxury GS seats is the passenger seat has the same range of motion, the passenger looses the adjustable lumbar and the thigh cushion extender in the LS, which makes no sense to me.

Comparing LS's the seats were redesigned in 2013, and they were a marked improvement over the 460's seats from 07-12. Those seats are unchanged from 13-17 though.

These are the GS seats I'm referencing:

Thanks for that info on the GS! I'll check it out, but it may be hard to find a used one with that option.

Is the extended adjustable thigh support standard on the LS driver's seat? Thanks.

Yes, all LS460s have the thigh support. Only seat option for the LS is grade of leather.

Wow. Those upgraded GS seats look awesome. I have always had mad love to the GS's and for a long time considered one. I did spend a few hours searching for the elusive GS460 when doing the search that ended with me getting the 460 I now have.

While I found a few, none compared in terms of complete service history and single ownership and amazingly price. That said, had I known the extent of the dent on the decklid, I would have at least tried to get $500 knocked off the price I paid. That said, the original owner had over a half dozen offers at his asking price and even showed me the texts. I just happened to be the first person he spoke to and we got on well off the start.

Moreover, I still got it priced $500 below wholesale and the valuation is according to Black Book which is quite accurate so the $900 I spent to get the dent fixed and decklid repainted (got an amazing deal thanks to my brother being an insurance adjuster at a top tier repair facility) did not bother me in the slightest.

Im looking at a 2013 ls 460 for 30000.00 ...43000 miles and a 2016 ls 460 for 39000.00. ...53000 miles. Any thoughts on which is the better deal. Both 2 owners no accident. 13 is really one owner that purchased the lease.

The only difference really is the infotainment system, the 2016 has the newer version where you can have a fullscreen map. The 2016 will also have access to the Enform app and remote start, etc...although thats going away in 2022.

Do you prefer the color or options of one over the other?

I recommend to continue your search with 2016+. I just bought my 2016 LS460 swb with all options except air suspension, ultra package for $34k plus tax from Texas. $39k is too much with that mileage. Mine has 45k miles and one month of factory warranty left.
