2018 Lexus LS Revealed!!

Interesting takes from people who like & don't like it. It would be better if they didn't tease with one of the best concepts I've seen (LF-FC). Maybe that car will be built in five years. However, this new saloon would be better with rear windows that don't roll down at all than to pace Mb and BMW with these prisms of weird glass. That said, the quilted seats are absolutely beautiful and Bentley-esque.

I'm afraid it could be an Acura RL moment. When Acura followed up their Legend sedans with the RL it went downhill from there. Interior is gorgeous though, but they had all this time to come up with something unique...they should have stayed truer to the LF FC concept!

I think you guys are prognosticating doom a little too soon lol.
If you look at the comments say on Jalopnik, who typically are pretty anti Lexus they are very positive. Car and Driver, MT, etc very positive. Style wise the car has grown on me every time I've looked at it, interior looks to be incredibly high quality. It will look a lot better in person as all Lexus vehicles do.
My only real issue is the lack of a V8, but most buyers aren't going to care. I'm sure it will drive great too as my experience with new Lexus platforms would lead me to believe.
Bear in mind the current car sells about 600 units a month. It's #3 in the segment, the 7 is about 1000 units and the s is about 1400 units.
Sales targets for this are probably 1000 units, which IMHO they should be able to do standing on their head if they can sell 600 units of the 460 as old as it is. Deep discounting, but discounts are 5 figures on the 7 and S too.

Funny thing about car buyers; when you let them down they don't run back right away. The Legend was a hit. Makes you wonder about the R&D for a car that has 25+ years of business.

Wow. No V8 which had been pointed out on this forum several times. Doubt we will be reading about LS500's going 250,000-300,000 miles with nothing more than scheduled maintenance owing to the dual turbos...
As for the acceleration, I wonder if it will come close to the rated time as when the 2007 came out, Lexus claimed 5.4 seconds to 60 only for most publications to measure around 5.8-6 seconds.
I would not be shocked if there was a shorter wheelbase available outside North America as with Lexus now having a presence in Europe and Asia, aside from China, many places can't do with such a long wheelbase. Especially Europe which is why they still offer SWB models of all the flagships there whereas here they seemingly are now only offered SWB.

I actually think I like the car more than the concept. I didn't care for the scooped sided shoe look to the concept.

That rear side window is god awful. I also think the front looks good, and I have no issue with the rear. The side is terrible, but the interior looks great. Love that they FINALLY have massaging seats in the front. I do have to say I'm disappointed that there is no huge wow factor. Nothing makes the car stand out from the competition in any way. Especially with introducing a TT6. I am liking the G90 more than this at this point. I think this car is a bit of a disappointment to me. Especially if it is over $90k. I see it sitting there and getting steep discounts.

I think the car is on the whole more impressive than the G90 from the pictures, the question will be price and whether it's worth potentially $20,000 more than a V8 G90.

Agreed. I think a second gen G90 has the ability to compete in every way here if they do it before another redesign. I almost think this will give Genesis a target that they could reach. I hoped for a segment first in this car, but they didn't pull out anything.

Man I'm bitter. Why the heck would they put the V8 in the LC 500, 500!!!, I'll say it again, 500, then put some stupid Acura-like V6 in the LS "500." You know how much flak Honda got for that. They still get it and frankly makes the entire Acura lineup subpar just because of the hunk of crap RL sitting at the top.
I'm not spending $90k on this. No freaking way. If I'm going to get a turbo, I want a V8 turbo with pressurization levels that aren't stupid and unreliability high as I'm sure this thing will be way up there. I wonder if this thing has a timing belt as well with super water pumps that will cost a fortune to maintain.
I don't care how much tech is stuffed in there, man it all starts and ends under the hood for me.

I'm frustrated by the lack of a V8 too, but to be fair comparing it to Acura isn't really fair. Acura never put a 415HP 442 lb/ft TT V6 in a longitudinally mounted RWD platform car. Acura has done a lot of things that have kept them out of that "tier 1" (i hate that descriptor but it works), Lexus really hasn't done any of that here. The car looks to be incredibly high quality, much more so than anything Acura has put out (save for perhaps the new NSX), the car sounds to have a lot of great technology, interior looks great. The only thing thats a problem for me is the lack of a V8, and I suspect thats something you and I are going to have to just come to terms with.
