Default New LS Teaser

So similar to the current front end. Hope the rest of the car makes more progress than that!!!

The current MBenz S550 stands head and shoulders above the current LS.
Benz probably not as reliable, but more problems are inevitable with the much higher level of complexity.

After paying 2k for an engine repair in my 2009 LS and barely qualifying for a warranty repair for the rear air shocks ($3k), I no longer believe the LS is bulletproof

That was my immediate reaction too after seeing the teasers for the first time. Really hoping the design shows more inspiration at the Detroit Auto Show (tomorrow?).

I just pray they don't go the way of seemingly everyone and use turbocharging. With the 500 models keeping naturally aspirated engines, I am cautiously optimistic. As for being bulletproof, I don't think air shocks going bad is a true indictment as it is truly the nature of the beast.
Surprised about the 2K engine repair as I have not read too many issues where such cost is involved.

When I owned my LX470, folks a plenty had to deal with replacing air shocks and the vehicle is still considered as bulletproof as it gets. Yahoo, a few years back, rated the LX/LC the best used vehicle to buy period. That factored resale, reliability, and heaven knows what else.

It's going to have a base turbo 6, that's a given. I just hope it still has an accessible optional V8.

Nooooooooooooooo! Makes perfect sense with the ever stringent CAFE standards. That said, with the incoming administration, I would not be surprised if these standards were relaxed. Probably will not stop the turboification of darn near every new car out there.

Its more than just the CAFE standards. Toyota really doesn't have to worry about the CAFE standards for the LS because Lexus is counted in with Toyota and they have enough efficient cars to keep their CAFE needs taken care of. Bottom line is that people DO care about efficiency and technology even in this segment. The selling proposition that "our TTV6 gets better performance AND better efficiency and fuel economy than the V8 in the LS460" works. I just watched a Alex on Autos review (he's great BTW) of the Genesis G90 V6 and he made a point several times that car had better acceleration and performance than a SWB LS despite being LWB and being a V6. That resonates with people.

Like I said, as long as they still have an available V8. Genesis handles it well, they have the V8 for a very small cost so people can have whichever they want.

I have had the same issue with mine as well. When I researched it a few years back I was told by Lexus as well as verified by research that it is due to me driving alone and the air adjusts to the weight on the drivers side and will increase air on that side of the shocks.
