Exactly. I certainly wouldn't be getting one. I know it's a hot topic, but I have come out FAR more ahead without warranties than if I had bought them, especially with my LS. Now with my previous BMW's... that's a different story maybe, but no one offered warranties for them because they knew better. LOL.

While the LS is more reliable than other cars, the repairs can be extremely costly. My 2010 LS460 is at the dealership right now, getting control arms replaced, a coolant leak fixed, a leaking shock replaced, and the NAV system replaced. Total cost is well over $8000, but THANK GOODNESS I splurged for the extended CPO warranty for $1800. I bought it thinking that just having the peace of mind alone would be worth it, but in the end I came out way ahead of the game. And I still have 1 more year on the warranty to go.

You don't need is because you have tools and handy. You only pays cost of parts
But Lexus will gladly take your money knowing you likely won't need it.

This is probably one of the most debated subjects on here, personally I would have wasted money on a warranty if I had purchased one. I was given that option when I bought mine...I think the guy offered me a one or a two year warranty...$1,000 per year. My car had 73,000 miles when I purchased it from a shop that specialized in Lexus vehicles (the owner was a former Lexus tech, along with his coworkers). I asked the guy flat out...do I need the warranty? He said probably not. Then I asked him...is this a car I can work on myself because I don't want something I can't work on, he said I'd have no trouble working on it. He was honest with me...he installed a new battery and threw on a couple tires, put a inspection sticker on it and I was off.
Three years and around 70,000 miles later, I've had to dump $600 into it for a wheel bearing and control arms. I did that repair in my garage during a snowy day last December...took me maybe five hours. So far so good. But I understand that some can't work on their cars - or want to - and I understand some people only like taking their cars to the dealer. So yeah I'd get a warranty if I was one of those people.

My 11' 460 already has 3 extended warranty when I bought. So anytime there is a repair, that is a direct deduction from the price I bought
i bought my 06 430 in 2011 with 5 years warranty for extra $4000. I think I make it even over 5 years

Repairs can be costly ONLY if you choose to allow it. As stated many times throughout CL, doing business with the dealership will cost big. A good example as stated by Doublebase, is the repairs mentioned by Pmiller above. Control arms can be done for 750 dollars inc parts and labor by an indy. Air shock replacement on all four corners can be done for about 1500 dollars all in...again by an indy.

i know the boss of one of my local Toyota dealer bought new 430 ultra premium for himselfin 2004. He has lots of fancy cars like RR and Bentley. When the air suspension of 430 is out on him in 2011, even he choose not to buy new air suspension and change to non-aired one
