Default LucasOil Products in Direct Injection Motors?

Is it safe to use the Lucas fuel system products in the direct injection motors in our ls460s? I have been a fan of the upper cylinder lube specifically on my old IS300 I6 motor for a while, but I'm not sure if using it on a DI motor is a good or bad thing.

Thoughts?

I'd avoid snake oils except as a last resort. In other words, no issues?... Nope.

Have you researched this product? Seems like a waste of $$. It's watered-down motor oil. Lots of info on BITOG

This fella does a bunch of tests on cleaners. Grab son popped corn and enjoy!

I find these things to be such a scam. Truth be told carbon deposits are hard to remove, real hard. Most normal solvents aren't going to create a dent in them...there are some solvents that can do it, but you wouldn't want to be within fifteen feet of them, and you wouldn't want it in your engine.

I would love some of these "tests" to be compared to the plain old gasoline you put in your car. Even when they stick a camera into the cylinder after running a solution through...what would it look like if it was just gas? You have so many factors that can remove minor deposits...engine temp, moisture, gasoline, ignition timing....probably many more. Truth is, a lot of deposits are being added and removed every time the combustion process takes place. The key is to run the proper fuel, make sure there are no check engine lights that will effect combustion, cooling system maintenance, spark plug condition, air cleaner condition, climate, and most importantly engine design. Some engines are not designed properly, unfortunately no matter what you do, you won't be able to prevent certain things that we all are trying to avoid (sludge, carbon buildup, etc). Luckily the the engine in the 460 appears to be designed well; you don't hear of carbon deposit issues that plague other engines, but even if you did, no additive is going to prevent it. Just my opinion and experience.

I use the RP Max-Clean. It's available at Walmart and works well for me. An Acura dealership I used to visit used Techron. Let us know what you choose and if you see any appreciable results.

Great info, as usual Folks... thanks so much. I used the upper cylinder lube product, mostly in the old car.. Never had fuel system issues, but then again- I always ran top tier gas, so... who knows?

Thanks again. I never owned a DI/PI hybrid vehicle. Any maintenance I can do to that end?

Thanks for the advice, Everyone. I suppose I will just keep the products out of the engine for the time being. Save for the Techron, which I will use because it's already in the Fuel I fill the car with.

For my old 2001 Sequoia, maybe it's all in my head but the Lucas products seem to smooth everything out (the upper cylinder lube)..
