Default Anyone have this problem?

Hey LS family! Wondering if anyone has ran into this problem and how they fixed it. Do they sell this trim? Purchased this beauty last week and must say this is the only flaw. I know its not a big deal but im weird and cant stand seeing it lol. Thanks!

let me guess... 2010?

I have the same issue.

I've looked into it a while back and if I remember correctly, you need to change the whole thing (front panel)... too expensive for what it is. IMHO

I just noticed you're in FL... I'm in QC Canada now, but the car was bought at Lexus of North Miami... so maybe it's a Florida issue (J/K, of course...)

Not to hijack your thread but I also noticed in a couple of early model 4LS's that I went to check out that the top of the middle vents would be cracked at the top corners, must be a FL thing. Luckily the one I ended up buying, although always a FL car, didn't have those cracks, it would've driven me insane.

Mask it off with blue tape, lightly sand it and use a silver magic marker. Just a thought. you cant make it worse. If that trim piece comes off refinish the whole piece.

I'm having this issue in my car and my idea has been to try and match up a silver paint pen to the trim color and mask it off and try the repair. I'll probably start tackling it in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

It really could be a Florida thing. Maybe heat related? lol

That is a good idea. I'll definitely give that a try. Can't hurt it.

Also, the rubber piece that covers the trunk release button on the trunk melts. When I checked the service history on mine it had been replaced twice already.

This is what I have done on interior "chrome" (silver painted) pieces that have had similar problems like this when it is too expensive to replace the entire piece.
1) Remove the bezel or trim........ In this case the LS radio so you can work on the trim piece.
2) Mask off then lightly sand down the "chrome" area (entire silver painted strip) with 400 grit wet/dry.
3) Wipe down with a paint prep cleaner.
4) Paint the entire trim piece with three LIGHT coats of Duplicolor Chrome (silver) Spray Paint.
5) Let dry then re install..... Only you will know it has been painted.

I have also seen this issue on several LS430s that I looked it....here in NorCal, so it's not necessarily heat related.
