HID lights LS460
Hi all
I am about purchase my first Lexus. It's a 2010 LS 460 AWD with 60k miles and a consistent service record with 5000 mile intervals and all service performed at a Lexus dealership. From what I understand only the headlights are HID. I would like to have the fog lights and DRLs as HIDs too. I purchased a couple of HID conversion kits from Amazon. They were originally for a Camry that I just sold so they were never installed. I am assuming, based on the HID manufacturer's website, that they will be compatible with the car. One is a replacement for a 9005 bulb and the other is for a 9006 bulb, which correspond to the high beams/DRLs and fog lights, respectively.
I assume since the high beams and fog lights are non HID I would have to install them along with finding a mounting place for the ballasts. Has anybody had experience with this on an LS before? Since this is such a nice car I ask because I'll be babying it as it will probably be my only car for years to come. I may have someone I know install them or attempt to install them myself to be careful.
Does anyone know the stock HID headlight (low beam) color temperature? I might purchase a pair of D4S bulbs to replace the stock lights because my other two kits have a 6000k color temperature.
Any help is appreciated.

I believe stock headlight temperature is between 4000k and 4300k. But obviously as the bulb ages it does change colors.
Also retrofitting HID's for the DRL's might not work since they're dual voltage/purpose bulbs since the same bulb is used for both DRL and high-beams by providing different voltages. In DRL mode, I doubt the HID ballasts would be receiving enough power to ignite. This means that the only time they'd ignite would be when you flip on the high-beams and at that point your main headlights would come on defeating the whole DRL purpose along with being entirely too bright. With this scenario you might actually end up damaging the ballasts by giving them too little power. I might be wrong on this and anyone should feel free to correct me.

HID in the DRL won't work. Best to use LEDs for that application. Also, the high beams are not halogen, the headlights are bi-xenon.

Unless they changed to bi-xenon in the 2010's (I thought they didn't introduce bi-xenon to the LS until 2013) my '07 uses the DRL halogens for high-beams.

I believe they became bi-xenon in 2010.
