Vibration in steering wheel at idle in D
I just noticed a vibration in my steering wheel at idle with the transmission in Drive. Seems like it goes away or gets better as the car warms up. Any ideas would be appreciated before I take it to my shop.
Thanks

Engine mounts? Maybe when they're cold they're a little stiff from age and when they warm up a bit they get a bit more flexible?

I think is normal. My GS behave the same. a very light vibration. need to pay attention to feel it.

Sounds to me like an engine/transmission mount.

probably car will vibrate more when it is cold. if mounting is a problem, than it should shake/vibrate consistently.however, this one goes away when the engine is fully warm up. correct?

An LS shouldn't have any drivetrain vibration at idle. Ever.

As a first step, I would put 2 bottles of Techron in the tank and see if it gets better over the next 400 miles. It can't hurt!
As for misfiring, my 2012 had a very slight miss at 42-44MPH under very light throttle which 2 bottles of Techron cleared up. Now with 65,000 miles it is starting to develop a tiny intermittent miss at idle, so I will replace the spark plugs next.
Plugs don't last forever, and when they start to fail it is usually due to gap growth from spark eroding the electrode and ground strap. And misfires will show up in high spark demand situations, like cold operation or at full throttle. But since misfires are harder to detect at full throttle (due to higher RPM), idle misfires will be noticed first.
Have someone else put the car in D with foot on the brake, then go listen to each tailpipe to see if you can hear misfiring.

If you put the transmission in neutral, does it go away? I believe my car does this also, been wondering whether it was engine or trans mounts. Or even the AC compressor ?

I suppose you are using premium gas?

yes it goes away in neutral and I am using premium gas (shell). I have found the problem I think. There is vibration at 500RPM, no vibration at 600 and above. For some reason the idle just went down to 500. Now its back up to what I call normal again at around 600-650 and no vibration.
