Rooftop carriers?
This may sound ridiculous, but has anyone had any experience with rooftop carriers for the LS460/600's? I am planning a trip to FL w/5 people and luggage for a week trip. I don't think it will all fit in the trunk, so I am considering a roof bar and carrier system. Any thoughts, any brand or model suggestions or am I crazy?
Thanks,
Tony

Receiver hitch for 600
I gave up on the idea of a rooftop carrier. I guess I was crazy after all. Now considering a receiver hitch instead. This way I could carry bikes, luggage or just about anything within reason in a tray out back and out of the airstream.
Curt makes one for a 2012 LS460 only, but not the 600. Wondering how much of a difference there is. I'm considering going to a local Lexus Specialty body shop and have them install it. One problem that I can see is the hole pattern may need to be redrilled. Also, wondering if the extra 1/4" mounting plate thickness will cause a problem with the bumper cover fitment.
Any one have any thoughts?

I've been towing boats for years. A trailer hitch shop that does custom hitches and builds trailers is your best source of a correct fit and installation. It's their specialty. Since it's doubtful that your car is a popular model for hitch installation, it's very likely that no one knows for sure until they order one and try to fit it. A good shop will work with you to get you taken care of. Don't forget the wiring harness as a hitch box will need a license plate light as well as tail lights (most likely) I think the hitch mount is the way to go. Enjoy your trip, as LS is the way to go.
