First some background. I had an LS400 for 5 years. Then I leased an LS430 for 3 years. After that I decided to try a sportier ride and bought an Audi A6. I really enjoyed it but it had so many maintenance problems that when the warranty expired at 3 years I traded it for a 2007 LS460. I have had that for 7 years now. I have been very fortunate to have been so spoiled with such nice cars. I have loved the 2007. However, I have been getting the itch to change again and that is my quandary.

I still like the sporty ride and my kids are grown so I don't need as big a car. That has me looking at the current GS350 F sport. However, I want to keep this car for 5 to 7 years again. I don't know if I would regret giving up the LS460 over time. I don't really need that large of a car anymore so I am leaning toward the GS. The newer LS460 s have gotten really expensive and I don't know that I can move into that price range.

So my options are to go for the current GS or to hang on to my car for awhile longer and get a used 2013 LS. My question is how much change is there in the newer LS460 from my 2007 model. Obviously the technology is better but is the ride the same or what refinements have been made? I have no problem getting a CPO Lexus. Thanks for your input.

GS350...meh,,,, sounds like your doing okay financially why not do it big and go with the IS-F?

LS owners will always say get a LS, just line GS owners will say get a GS. Have you driven the GS350 yet? Best thing you can do is go and drive one, see if they'll let you keep it over night. At least you know you want to stay in the Lexus family.

Me personally i would keep my LS and look into getting a IS-F as a second car , that way there you wont have any regrets on giving up your LS. Best of both worlds sport and luxury at your finger tips whenever you want

You can't buy a car based on what other people think you should get! Only you can determine which car suits you better. Drive the new LS and the new GS and compare them. Make your decision based on that.

Thanks for the responses. I will be driving both cars before deciding. My curiousity to begin with is how the newer LS460 compares to my 2007. I know the technology is newer and I never met an option I didn't like but how does the ride compare? Is the feel the same? Is it less noisy(my 2007 has more wind noise than my LS430 had). What refinements do you all see? Thanks again.

It's as simple as that.

We could all tell you all day that the GS is the only way to go, but then you get in it, drive it two miles and say to yourself, "this thing sucks", and then return your checkbook into your back pocket

The ride is similar unless you get the 2010+ Sport/F-Sport model.

The JCMcraney trick helps decrease wind noise esp. in combination with the 2013+ fins. It's not as quiet as the LS430 according to owners of both during city driving but the LS460+fix is quieter than the LS430 at highway speeds.

If you don't need the size or ride of the LS, the GS isn't bad. It'll have an updated infotainment system -- personally if you can wait, might as well get a RC or RC-F if you can do with a 2-seater. IT'll have the latest infotainment and will be a good mid-life car
