I have been getting sluggish acceleration ever since my road trip.. 700 plus miles on the trip there i blazed up there in like 4 hours but unfortunately the trip back met with stop and go traffic in where somehow the ecu must of learned the habit???? not sure but my question is how come the tranny is never in first gear it is always in s4 and even like most cars when you drive it in whatever gear upon a complete stop it returns to 1st. mines never changes unless i do it. is that normal??? just wondering if i need to get the tranny flashed...
Just looking for some insight and hopefully someone can comfirm what is normal and what is abnormal

Whenever you move the shift lever into manual mode it defaults to fourth gear unless you are traveling at a higher speed than warranted for fourth gear. In that case when you move the lever to manual the gear will either be fifth, sixth or seventh depending on speed (it won't go into eighth). So when you start up your car and shift into manual mode, you then have to select first gear (if that's the gear you want). This is normal operation for the transmission.

Now if you are in Drive and the transmission does not start in first gear, you do have a problem. Best to take it to the dealer.

cool cool I understand it always defaulting in 4th gear but it seem like i am always in 4th gear even at a stop... imma check do a quick check at start up but I think that is the sluggish accerlation problem because when i bang through the gears from 1st to 8th its all good.. thats for the insight though..
