Cheap Pennzoil Synth ($1/qt)
For us LS owners still on a 5k mile OCI (the last ones left in the world!), Pennzoil has a good promotion on (March 1 - June 30).
With the Shell rewards card (FRN) and a bit of registration hassle, you can get a $1/gallon discount on gas at Shell stations for a max 20 gallon fill-up for every 5-qt bottle of Pennzoil Full Synth you buy. That's a potential savings of $20 off a 5-qt bottle of Pennzoil Full Synth - not too shabby!
I was told you can stack the discounts so you could, for example, get $4/gallon gas discount by doing the deal on 4 5-qt bottles of oil. The discount above the actual gas price at the pump will be saved for a future fill-up. The CATCH is two-fold. Must be Shell gas and the discount is for one-time use up to 20 gallons (except when discount more than gas price). So, if you only pump 10 gallons of gas, you'd only get $10 worth of your $1/gallon discount instead of $20 worth if you pumped all 20 gallons of gas, so you want to fill up when you're thirsty! I generally buy my oil at Walmart for around $25 for a 5-qt bottle. This deal puts my final cost at around $1/quart for the synth.
P.S. I forgot - they also have the deal on individual quarts of Pennzoil Full Synth at 20cents/gallon Shell gas discount per quart purchased (works out to max of $4/quart discount on the oil with 20 gallon fill-up).
