Any insights b4 i buy an '07 LS460
Hello all, new member here:
I am currently in the market to trade in my '01 LS430 w/ 57k mi. I would like to get the current generation 460.
I have two issues:
first, I am very sensitive to noise, and the 460's ride seemed loud & harsh, compared to my LS430. I recently replaced my 430s all season performance tires with Serenity tires and it's flawless. Also, I wasn't expecting the level of engine noise entering the 460 cabin. I am guessing the Serenity tire will at least improve the ride. Living on Long Island, I will be taking a chance with Serenity tires in the snow (anyone tried this?). I'd appreciate any suggestions on this and any other issues on the '07 LS460 before making a purchase.
My second issue is the trade in. They are offering me only $10,500 for my '01 LS439 because it doesnt have navigation. It's black/black, in superb condition, 57k mi, with new Serenitys and I installed bluetooth. I am disappointed; I thought a Lexus dealership would do better than that.
Anyway, the C.P.O. LS460 I want is silver/black, with all options (Parallel Park Asst, MLevinson, etc.), has 33k miles, and the 100k mi warranty is pretty impressive.
Kevin
P.S.
I am also trading in my '08 Miata retractable hardtop (24k mi) for an '03 SC430 (34k mi). I def plan on replacing the run flats with Serenity. Any suggestions on that vehicle would be greatly appreciated, esp with regard to installing a bluetooth and updating the nav.

Just for comparison
1- I bought a 2009 CPO LS 2 months ago for $40,500. It had 42000 miles, Nav/Levinson, park assist, etc. The dealer also agreed to install 4 new Michelin tires when I complained about the road noise on the test drive. IT'S a very quiet ride now.
2- your 01 LS430 without navigation shows trade in value of $16,500 in good condition on KBB.COM I traded in an 08 Avalon Limited with 56000 miles. Dealer gave me $18,500, or about $1,000 OVER KBB Trade in price.
3- 08+ LS has some things that the 07 may not have like laminated door glass, less wind noise, seat fix for reports of being uncomfortable, etc.
SC;
I just took delivery of a 2008 SC 430 yesterday. It was sold to previous owner as a CPO car in April of this year and it's immaculate. I had local Lexus dealer pull service history and print it out for me. It had oil changes every 5k miles and tires twice. There was no other service needed. Better yet it is still within the 4 year 50 mile factory warranty for 3 more weeks.
Mileage does not scare me with Lexus, but I will probably get an extended Lexus Platinum Warranty. It's eligible since its still under factory 4yr/50k coverage.
The combo of an LS460 and a SC430 is great. When I need more room than for e 2 of us I use the LS.

......any other issues on the '07 LS460 before making a purchase.
Just make sure the 3 recalls were performed (fuel rail, idler pulley and valve seal replacement).
It's hard to say if the $10,500 is a good price for your car since we don't know what you are paying for the new one. However if Flyct says it's $16,500 on KBB, then it seems like you may not have the best deal. However, if they are pricing the '07 $6K below dealer retail, then you're OK.
Oh, and welcome to the Club!

see if the wind noise TSIB has been done and make sure you get a drive in the car thats longer that 15 minutes. Some of us had comfort issues with our drivers seats.

Thanks for your input. I bought the '07 LS yesterday, for $33, and they allowed me $11,500 for my '01 LS. They also agreed to repaint the front and rear bumper, as it had a few scratches that they knew was making me drag my feet. I also splurged and got a remote start, but more importantly, I got the entire dealer-installed body side molding and bumper guard package. It looks better without, but where I have to park at work, its only a matter of time before someone opens their car door into my car. Besides, the dealer installed bumper, wheel well and side moldings are one of the best looking I've seen, and the matching paint bleeds thru the molding, which should hold up good.
I drove it extensively last night and detected no wind noise (my VIN # is outside the range of that problem, as it was built in June '07). I'm looking forward to replacing those Michelin Pilot A/V sport tires with a Serentiy tire or quiet equivalent. I'll see what Michelin has first (Firestone gave me 50% off when I complained how poorly the All season sport tires were wearing on my '01 LS, Micheline might do the same).
I have to say, the Lexus CPO warranty impresses me. I thought it was a 3yr/100,000 mile power train only. But its a full warranty. With all the bells and whistles that go on this car, even though its a Lexus, that's still peace of mind.
Look forward to picking up my '03 SC430 at the dealer this week. Both cars are a nice combo
