Default Rear Seat Entertainment question

I was digging through my owners manual but couldn't figure it out without buying some cables and actually trying this out.

Regarding the aux video/audio input inside the armrest. If I was to get a portable DVD player and connect it to that input, will that play independently on the ceiling mounted flip down screen and the audio can be heard through the wireless headphones only or will that also take over the front screen and Levinson speakers also, forcing me to listen to whatever the back passengers are enjoying?

If yes, is there an option to isolate the rear entertainment while the front passengers listen to another source like XM, Radio, CD, etc.

I am stumped. Going to ask dealer about it - the next time I am in. In my wife's suburban - the kids can listen to whatever they want via the wireless headsets, while the car speakers play whatever is selected from the front console. However, if i change the front - it changes what is played on the wireless headset. Seems odd, that my Lexus is being outdone by her Chevy... Am I missing something?
