Default TPMS Display/Set Button questions

I have a 2008/SWB. Under normal conditions I can see the PSI of each tire including the spare when I toggle to that display. The TPMS warning went off this morning, it will no longer display the PSI for each tire. Is this normal? Another question, under what circumstances do you use the TPMS Set button under the dash on the drivers side? Thanks

I don't believe that you will be able to see the tire pressure once it goes into low-pressure-alarm. That condition is self-clearing in that it will go back to normal once the sensed pressure gets above the alarm threshold. I believe that the alarm threshold has some hysteresis, I am not sure of the depth, but the pressure would have to return somewhat to clear the alarm.

Thanks, I just checked pressure all around including the spare. Spare was at 28 PSI which is way below the 33 PSI threshold. Rest were OK. It just so happened that a friend at work had an air pump. I pumped it up to 40 for now. I am hoping the warnings will reset as I drive home later today.

How do you know that the thresholds are set to 33 PSI?

Kind of assuming that from your earlier posts.

Let me expand. I assume 33 as the benchmark as I have never pressed the button, thinking that that may be hte factory setting. If I am wrong in this assumption please let me know. I can also use your post in the other thread to create a benchmark if I am not mistaken.

I don't think you know how the car is benchmarked unless you have done that yourself. What often happens is that the button gets pressed when the tires are hot, typically 38 PSI leaving the warning threshold at 28.5 PSI which is not sufficient margin for winter operation. Have you read the post at: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/8447227-post9.html

OK, i reread and I think I got it. Will attempt to rebenchmark by lowering the pressure when hot and pressing the button., then reinflate all. The tires I have now are at 42 PSI. So i will back them off to 33 as well as the spare. Will let you know how it goes.

Default Issue Resolved

As it turns out the car was not recognizing the spare sensor. I had entered the sensor ID into the ATEQ for the spare but for some reason when I uploaded the second set of ID's for my summer wheels this particular ID was not accepted. My indy mechanic loaded the ID and it has been fine since.

I will see what happens when I switch back to the winter set.
