Ls460 suspension is rough
Comparing to other cars and even with the new 2011 es350 the ls460 (non airbag) suspension is so rough. Going over bumps you feel & hear the "boom" as to other cars it absorbs the noise to a "sshhh"...
Anyone else has the same feeling about this?

I was just wondering the same thing. I purchase an 08 afew months ago and had expected the ride to be a lot smother. I could feel the road noise and vibration on the floor of the car. The ride on my old 2000 ls400 seems smoother for some reason. I read on this site that the turanza tires that came with the ls460 were crap. Could that be problem? Thinking about replacing the tires or getting some 22's. Anyone experience these road noises/vibrations on turanzas or experienced smoother ride after replacing stock tires?

Road noise = tires
Going over small bumps get noises, clunks, bumpy = suspension. May be springs & shock is too stiff? Stiff spring/shock = better control but rough ride.

I would have to say its the tires. Do a little research and get a new set. I would look up the brand of tire used on a Rolls Royce Phantom and get a set . Rolls Royce is world famous for the whisper quiet ride. They go all out.

Randomwalk,
I have the same issue as you. However the dealer couldnt find anything wrong with it. I just slapped some 22"s on it and live with it. The rest of the car makes up for this one disappointment.

I'm loving the ride in my new 460L. It came with the Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 which isn't a very good tire but at least the ride is quiet. I have the standard suspension and there's some road feel but the ride is smooth, not harsh. I also have RWD so I wonder if that makes any difference in the ride. Oh, and my wheels are the standard 18" which offers more cushioning on rougher roads. Higher diameter wheels with very low profile tires = a very rough ride on bad roads.

LS460L (long wheel base) has air suspension..the ride is fantastic.
Also I believe 2010 LS460 AWB has air suspension too so it's a direct comparision.
I'm talking about older LS460 without air ride.

Though not super ultra soft, the ride on my SWB RWD LS460 is good enough. I go over many speed bumps on a daily basis and never heard any sound of any kind.
Man I hope your dealer pinpoints the culprit and gets it resolved right away. You deserve no less than what you paid for, a perfect LS460.

I currently own a '10 LS460 and find the ride and handling more "European" than "rough". The '10 LS, while still having a soft ride, is not as isolated as the '04 LS430 nor the '98 LS400 which I previously owned. I've found that each newer LS had a firmer ride than the previous one. My '10 is a SWB and has 19" wheels, so I attribute some of the "road feel" to the lower profile tires. I would not describe the ride as harsh at all, unless someone was used to a Lincoln Town Car.
I owned a '10 ES350 with "17 wheels and it had much less road feel than the '10 LS. I guess I would have to say that the ES did have a softer ride than my current '10 LS. Overall, for me, the LS has an ideal compromise of luxury ride and handling.
