you are in MA, do you need awd? that's quite a difference between the two.

also, do you mean ls460 or ls460l? s550 are all lwb so it will be quite a bit more on the rear room compared to the ls460 if that's what you compare with.

When I bought my '07 I looked at both cars. The S550 (identically equiped except that was a 4 Matic) was $25,000 more than the LS. Also tipping the scale was I perferred the interior and exterior styling of the LS slightly more than the S550, and I was concerned with the poor reliability of the S550.

I've never regreted my choice.

Yeah the reliability is a good concern but they have it covered tell 2015 if bought this year!

ahh in the price range of large luxury cars, the decision would break my heart.

Im a huge Lexus fan but I probably would choose the S. Great from a styling standpoint, great on feature (if loaded up correctly), and also you cant match the prestige and 'bling' factor. That said, I like the updates for both of the models (I think 09 for the LS and '10 for the S)

I too debated on your same options, but if your not looking into the LWB Lexus, get the S-Class, but if it is a possible option, then i would look heavily into the LS. It's a well priced machine which also holds it's value compared to a MB in my opinion! Not too mention the customer service is far beyond greater than MB's, which was one if my deciding factors. Too many S's out there cause people buy the name, but aren't the happiest of owners! The LS looks like a car you just want to drive and drive! Just my .2 Cents!!!

thanks for the input, so basically the LS LWB is a better car overall and to own for life also better, but S550 wont last very long, but looks good. I attached a link the dealership has this LS 460L there tell me if he should look at that. and again thanks for the input.

Based on the rims in teh pictures, this 2010 LS 460L does not have air suspension. This was a deal breaker for me. I had an 07 w/out it and now have an 08 with it. Night and day. I was offered a great deal on 2010 460L AWD recently , but I turned it down because it didn't have air.

Thats something to think about, I thought they all came with Air suspension, that is a deal breaker compared to the comfortable ride of the S-class

If you don't mind me asking how did you know it didn't have it.

Air suspension is a must that I agree with! The center console should have a ride height button! If it's there, your safe. Can't tell by the pics and the description doesn't mention it! HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE RIDE, not to mention you can lower or raise tour car if you also decide to add the Preatigous Society Car Module Controller. Best and first item I bought for it after I bought my LS. There are plenty out there so take your time looking! You will find one out there!

Please tell me the difference between the standard and air suspension. I ordered a 460L with standard suspension but haven't gotten it yet. I'm under the impression that the standard suspension is soft and similar to the air when set to normal or comfort. Setting to Sport stiffens it.

I'm not interested in a firm ride because of my bad back. That's why I also ordered the standard 18" wheels.
