Different HP?

Different HP?
I'm looking into upgrading the LS430 to a LS460 soon. From what I understand there are a couple variations of the 4.6L giving them different HP outputs. I want to be sure I have the 380HP V8... how will I tell if I decide to buy one here soon? Is the AWD version the ONLY version with decreased HP? If that's the case, how do I tell the difference (without driving of course) between RWD and AWD by appearance?
If this has already been covered, I apologize.

The AWD has 350ish HP(357?), whereas the RWD has 380 HP (US version) and 342 HP (Middle East version).
So all RWD LS460's & LS460L's are the same in terms of horsepower. They differ in options installed, but the engine is the same.
This applies to LS460 & LS460L '07 - '09 (inclusive). Not sure if anything has changed '10 onward.

Isn't it correct that the LS460 RWD and AWD have the exact same engine. The AWD (for me the variant of choice) option results in the delivery of 23 HP less: 380 vs 357. In climates where winter means lots of snow AWD is worth it.

Always wondered what the difference was.

Both engines have the same brake horsepower, however the AWD version loses that 23 HP due to the energy sapped by the two additional drive wheels.
