It seems like all mark levinson needs to do is add the 3 red light and theyre all good to go.

Yes, I think you're right. I lifted up the cover on the dvd drive/ML amp last night, and after MODERATELY listening to a cd the amp was BURNING UP...and the cooling fan or fans are LOUD. It's gotta be related to heat issues.

I had the same chirping in audio system. Service guy at dealer knew exactly what was wrong in 10 seconds. It is dead amp - dealer fixed mine as a courtesy for free even though out of warranty. Said new one is about $1500 LS460 2007 30K miles
I think $325 is to fix your amplifer not to get one.

my audio went out yesterday and chirping noise, last night after reading from here im sure its just the dead amp, so i called dealer they told me it would be 2900 +tax, since i still have 2 months/1000 miles left on the warranty i can bring it in next monday. i was trying to tell the service writer its the amp, asked if he could order me a amp first but he wouldnt, he said they have to check the car first and order whats needed.

The GS amp is in the right-side of the trunk, closest to the back.

Default LS460 ML Amp Replacement 4/2012 Update

Just replaced my ML Amp as discussed in this thread. Amp is located on trunk floor to the right of spare tire. Once removed; chirping stops. VERY easy to remove and replace. United Radio is currently charging $400 to repair; but still beats dealer estimate of over $1200. United Radio turn-around same day - outstanding service!

Thanks for the info. I will save the info. It seems like these amp failures are getting a bit more common.
