OMG Tires Are "Gone"
So guys, here is the deal. We all know our 460 came with those piece of crap Bridgedstone EL-42 tires. I hate them. Right now my front tires are gone. I mean completely gone. The back ones are el42 right now. They got replaced at 23000 miles(now 33825miles on my car) and I want to change them to these

So would it be ok to have El42 in the back and these ones in the front? As they are the highest rated tires? My dealer said he "recommends" El-42 but I don't like them at all.
what do you guys say?
if yes, then cool but if not, then recommend new good tires. Not veeerrry expense though. I know there are other topics but couldn't find the one appropriate to my situation.

I would not mix brands of tires or even models from the same manufacturer. It might not make a difference, but it could also adversely impact handling characteristics.

I wouldn't do that.
The tires in the back will age faster and 10K miles or 15K miles later they will have to be replaced, so you'll always have this mix of old/new tires. Plus, the tires rotation possibility would be questionable. Then there remains the affect on performance question.
So I'd just change them all at the same time.

I would go ahead and order all 4 of ExtremeContact DWS. Since they are on back order nationwide, by the time they arrive, you will need all 4. As Nospinzone said, you should not mix different tires.

I love mine on my 08 LS460. Then again they only have 13,000 miles on them.
However they are super quiet, extremely comfortable, and handle great.
So far they are just a little below the Dunlop 5000's that i had on my Lexus LS430 but still tons better than the Michelin MXV4+ that i once had.
Maybe they start to suck once the miles get higher? Then again all tires get terrible with higher mileage.
My Bridgestones look brand new with 13,000 miles.

Whats so bad about the Bridgestone EL 42? Everyone seems to complain about them. I have no idea why

I think you are probably an exception. My EL42 tires were totally gone in 11K miles. I was able to convince Lexus to replace them for free. I would agree with you that they are quite, but they do not handle well at all, at least in my case ( maybe I'm an exception ) I will never buy these tires again and would more than likely go with Conti Extreme when this set is in need of replacement.

I will have 30K miles on mine by the end of today and they look like they are good for at least another 5K.
However, I plan to put Michlin Pilot Sports on next as I think they are a better all around tire.

Normally, I would be blaming this on my car, but I have had 2 Ls's and both of them had same results with EL42. Tires were totally shot by 11 - 12 k miles. May be it's my driving?

I have 13000 miles on my EL 42's. They are shot. Also had alignment problems from the start. I do mostly stop and go, city driving. I wonder if those who get better mileage on these tires, do more highway driving. What about it? I think I am going with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

Same here. Most of my driving is city, stop and go. I would seriously consider Conti ExtrmeContact DW (or something like that). They are rated just as good or better than Michelin Pilot A/S, but cost much less. Slight problem with Conti's, they are on back order nationwide. No one knows when they'll be able to get them.
