Lexus announces a brake override system to be installed in most models by end of 2010
On Tuesday, Feb 23rd Lexus’s Canadian web site announced an expansion of the models that it is voluntarily installing a “brake override system” that “…will automatically reduce engine power when the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are applied simultaneously under certain driving conditions.” Also it stated that “…this feature is scheduled to be incorporated into future new production of most Toyota and Lexus models sold in Canada by the end of 2010.”
I assume this involves a software change. Is this old news? I wonder if by the end of 2010 this will include the LS460? Any comments?

The brake override system is going into all Toyota, Lexus, and Scion new production by the end of the year, that's been announced since January. Several models at high risk, the IS, ES, and some Toyotas (these have the type of pedal that is vulnerable to mat entrapment, and the Toyotas have a defective pedal), get the brake override system added to existing models too. Existing LS models are not getting that.
And yes, it's a software change.

Thanks. I've been lurking around this forum but must have missed this info.
