[I] found out that the LS600HL has less trunk space because of the batteries are stored right there, severely impinging on the trunk space, where my LS460 has room for 4 golf bags....

ls460l with rear seats upgrades also have pretty much the same tiny space as the 600hl coz' of the extra AC unit in the back for 4 zone climate control

i believe 2009 ls600hl already has improved trunk space

i don't own an LS but my father does. We live in Texas and he easily has the capacity to purchase an LS 600 hL if he wanted to. Hell he could get a Ferrari if he REALLY wanted to (I'm still trying to convince him...so I can drive it once in a while but alas he doesn't want a high maintenance sports car) but he opted for the LS 460L.

Even though his budget could have easily accommodated the $115k 600 hL, he did not see it being "$30k" better than the 460L. And it's not like he's ultra frugal all the time either.

Well that's all I have.

the porsche will be more fun but will probably cost a bit more to own and operate in te long run. It sems like you may be getting a little bored of Lexus . If thats the case then do the Cayanne.

You really do sound like an AMG guy. I'm coming from a garage of MB and a LX570 and my business partner has a LS460. What do you really want in your car? If it is speed and luxury (includes comfort and refinement), than my best pick would be a S600 V12TT. Lots of power, yet subtle to the eye due to the lack of AMG appearance. When picking between the LS and the Turbo, what factors are you considering? Seating capacity, luggage space, performance, modding? I can't speak on the behalf of the LS600, but as a previous owner of a LS 400, I was a happy camper every minute of ownership, until it was sold off.

However, I would go for the 911 Turbo, its just that much more exciting to drive! Test drive one at the dealer and you will see, not even the high HP/Torque of any AMG or M-series compare to the turbo, but thats just my own opinion when I was behind the wheel.

Having an LS600hL I guess I am a bit biased... but I do think the hybrid motor and the CVT transmission do make a big difference over the standard LS460L. Trying to compare an LS to a sports car is a waste of time. That's why I have a new Tesla Roadster. I can have all of the fun of a sprots car (and it's fater than a Porche) and use no gas. Then when I need to sit in traffic and want something comfortable, I drive the LS600hL..... just my 2 cents.

funny how the cars you are considering are nothing alike. Kind of like me. For the next car I am thinking of an LS460 or a GTR
