Go out as soon as possible and apply the heat from a good, powerful gun-type hair dryer to the dented bumper cover. It will take maybe 8 or 10 minutes, but the dent will probably pop right out. I did this very thing on my wife's Caddy just 2 nights ago with a 1500-watt dryer and it doesn't even show.

Just hold it a couple of inches away and move it around as the hot air heats up the cover. Works like a charm, since the plastic in the cover has a "memory" and will return to its original shape if heated.

That sucks. Just another reason I NEVER park near any other cars in a parking lot.

Oh that's terrible when that happens. Good luck fixing it.

I had a similar dent on mine, It's probably going to cost about $1400 to fix it

I would try and pop it out from the back side as well although with the exhaust just below it might be a bit tight getting back there.

most dealer body shops outsource their work. i would look at reviews of your local body shops to find one with good reputation.

I'm telling you - use a hair dryer on it and it will pop back out ...

You may need a little paint touch-up, but that'll be a lot less than paying some body shop to replace the bumper cover.

thanks all! by the way, there is a crack in the bumper so that kinda kills it.

im going to take it to lexus dealer and get it replaced and panited. im sure they use someone good and i will stress to them 100 times, it must be a flawless job or i will not accept it. im sure they can match it up pretty well, im not the first pearl paint job repair. but i know im screwed already b.c it can never be the same as factory paint job!

i was wondering if i can find a mint bumper off a same color car that was removed for a body kit etc, maybei can put it on and since its not that old, the paint can match nicely and i will have original paint job still? what do you think?

either way, eventually down the road i wouldve needed to paint the bumpers. tose are the first things to need it down the road. especially sine i drive all day for a living. on highways, the front bumper will need paint the soonest. but i wash my car 3 timesa week and baby it to look like new as possible.

hopefully they will do a good job.

do you think they can just paint the new bumper, or will they need to paint some of the panel and trunk to blend in?

I would only paint the bumper and nothing else.

Forgive my ignorance, but can't you get a factory painted bumper from the dealer?

Apparently not. I've had several bumper covers replaced over the past 19 years of driving Lexus LS cars and the new bumper covers have always had to be painted. Matching the paint has never been a problem.

For minor damage, I've used the same mobile touch-up guy the Lexus dealer uses -- he mixes the paint and touches up our bumpers in our driveway ... he has a compressor on his truck for his paint gun. The guy does incredible work.
