spotted rear windshield
my 2007 ls460 had 5% tint all around until lexus replaced both front windows with laminated glass. lexus agreed to retint the replacement glass to match.when the work was done it didnt match,so i had all the tint removed.my reasoning was i planned on going on a trip to florida, and didnt wish to tempt authorities in several states.i watched the removal process to completion, and it was a neat and thorough job.however, the rear windshield is covered in grayish spots which cannot be removed.they are readily visible when standing to the sides of the car,but unnoticable looking from the middle.they appear to be embedded in the glass.the tint guy coudnt explain or remove these spots, but said he has seen this phenomina in other lexus cars and he is contracted by lexus for tint work.i wonder if there are others who have encountered this problem, and if it can be fixed,or should i bring it in for a replacement.

5% tint??? Wow, that blocks 95% of all light coming in ... must have looked like you painted the windows black!
I can't see how the tint could have caused the spots, unless the dye somehow migrated to the glass (which I would think is unlikely, but I guess is possible).
I would therefore assume the spots are some kind of defect in the glass, and it wouldn't hurt to talk to your dealer about it.

I have seen these spots in several lexus glasses but I am usually wearing sunglasses. If these are the same spots they all have them and a glass replacement will not fix concern.
