How much bigger is the Ls 460L then the 460, someone asked and I had no idea.

Thanks

It's not a dumb question IMO, it's a valid one. Looking at the specs:

http://www.lexus.com/models/LS/detai...ions.html?id=0

LS 460
Code:
Length (in / mm) 198.0 / 5,029
Width (in / mm) 73.8 / 1,875
Height (in / mm) 58.1 / 1,476
Wheelbase (in / mm) 116.9 / 2,969
Curb Weight (lb / kg) 4,244 / 1,925

Headroom, Front (in / mm) 38.0 / 965
Headroom, Rear (in / mm) 38.0 / 965
Shoulder Room, Front (in / mm) 58.5 / 1,486
Shoulder Room, Rear (in / mm) 56.9 / 1,445
Hip Room, Front (in / mm) 55.4 / 1,407
Hip Room, Rear (in / mm) 55.5 / 1,410
Trunk Capacity (cu ft/ L) 18.0 / 509
LS 460 L
Code:
Length (in / mm) 202.8 / 5,151
Width (in / mm) 73.8 / 1,875
Height (in / mm) 58.1 / 1,476
Ht., AVS (in / mm) 57.7 / 1,465
Wheelbase (in / mm) 121.7 / 3,091
Curb Weight (lb / kg) 4,332 / 1,965

Headroom, Front (in / mm) 38.0 / 965
Headroom, Rear (in / mm) 38.0 / 965
Shoulder Room, Front (in / mm) 58.5 / 1,485
Shoulder Room, Rear (in / mm) 56.4 / 1,433
Hip Room, Front (in / mm) 55.4 / 1,407
Hip Room, Rear (in / mm) 55.5 / 1,410
Trunk Capacity (cu ft / L) 18.0 / 509
Trunk Capacity (cu ft / L) 14.1 / 399 (Rear-Seat Upgrade Package or Exec Package)
Trunk Capacity (cu ft / L) 12.0 / 339 (Rear-Seat Upgrade Package or Exec Package)
The LS 460 L is approximately 5 inches longer overall. They don't give exact legroom figures I guess because it depends on how far the front seats are moved forward or back.

correct, almost 5 inches. and just in case, all those 5 inches go to the back seat space. that's why the rear doors are larger, and also why you see pretty much the same increase in wheel base increase

That's a 2.1 cu/ft difference; that box's just a tiny six pack holder.

On the other hand, there's ducting associated with it, so you may have a point there.

It could be the ducting, but the rear cooler is standard for the Exec. Package (at least for Canadian specs), the way they put it above, it's as if you can opt out of the cooler box, & you can get a cooler box for the 5-seater with just the rear-seat upgrade . . .

i believe its 14 cu ft when you have the rear seat upgrade and 12 with the executive.

agree, seems like an option that doesn't exist

RXSF, maybe we need cars side by side, but several times i looked at my car and the exec package, the trunk seems the same. and in the spec is says rear seats upgrade OR exec package, that makes things even more confusing

RXSF's post sent a light bulb off.

MAYBE.... the rear seat upgrade is the one with the power rear seats with memory and cool box. The Exec is the power rear seats with the ottoman and cool box

that's right, i have the rear seats upgrade. however, it says

Trunk Capacity (cu ft / L) 14.1 / 399 (Rear-Seat Upgrade Package or Exec Package)
Trunk Capacity (cu ft / L) 12.0 / 339 (Rear-Seat Upgrade Package or Exec Package)

both lines say the same except the capacity.

My exec seat has the (very) small trunk. I think my Civic Hybrid has a larger trunk. Of course, the back seat is so large it can fit suitcases on the floor and on the seat at the same time. Just don't pick up three passengers with three big suitcases at the same time. LT
