Default Tie rod ends

Hey guys,

Can tie rod ends be replaced without taking off the rotor and brake dust shield? If I remember correctly it looked pretty snug with the shield. Thanks and have a great week.

Yes, you need a ball joint tool to press out the tie rod end.

Just turn the wheel all the way (left or right) and you will be able to access it fine.

Yes, they can

FWIW, I did a little DIY write up here

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...-rods-diy.html

I will say though that it's probably a good idea to NOT get ones that have grease nipples because you can't get good access once installed. So I would find one that is a sealed unit. If I could do it again, that's what I would do (even though I really like Moog's Problem Solver line)

Default Backwards tie rods?

My mechanic friend is replacing my front passenger side cv axle. Upon examination he observed that the outer tow rod end on the front passenger side has an L marking. Are my tie rods on the wrong sides?

Thanks!
Jill
