Tail Lamp Failure for the 3rd Time
Tail lamp on the left side of my 2001 LS430 keeps failing. First failure was probably a worn out bulb. Went to Jiffy Lube and got it replaced for cheap, even dad approved going to Jiffy Lube, but then that bulb failed because it was a bad egg out of the bunch. But, Jiffy Lube replaced it for free, but then about 2 months later, the bulb failed again. I don't know if this is Jiffy Lube being Jiffy Lube, a wiring issue, or could be another bad bulb??
But I feel like it might be an electrical issue, because on rare occasions my left headlight will not light up until I flick the switch around and then it lights up, but uh, aren't the front and back lights use separate fuse boxes?
But has anyone had this amount of bad luck with tail lamp bulbs?

My high mount 7440 was out when I got my car in Oct., but I changed it and it's been fine.
When my Nissan Maxima was brand new in 1998, the entire rear right kept burning out, and what they told me, was it happened to them over and over, but there was no short. So they doubled the amperage of the fuse, and it was fine for the next 18 years. My dad, being an EE, said that is absolutely not the way to handle it, they should have found out why there was so much draw...but, I have to admit, like I said, never had a problem again, for 18 years.
p.s. how come old bulbs last 18 years, did they even have such a thing as LL back then? Do you see how many new cars have bulbs out, it's maddening...(GM seems awful on this front)

Yeah, I have noticed that certain times the car comes alives with warning lights telling me the light failed, while other times does not alert me. Probably is a vibration issue if the bulb isn't properly seated in the socket, so I can reach in there and check.

Also, vibration is an issue with the filament as well as LED tail lights on the '01 - '06 LS. Solution: try not to slam the trunk lid.

OK, so I had my friend help me locate the faulty tail lamp and thankfully its the right brake light and not a running light.
So that's good for two reasons: 1. Once I get paid I can hit up Jiffy Lube for the change. 2. Since its not a running light, I dont get a fix-it ticket from the cops!

Ehh I guess. It's only about $7 for the work and whatever the price of the bulb is, and once I get my new job it won't be that bad with what I'll be racking in.
