Default Multipoint Inspections

I did a site search with the title above, searching only threads titled "multipoint Inspections". No hits. So here goes...

In my research I have found that a Lexus Certified Pre Owned receives a 161 point inspection. My question:

What might the difference be with a "dealer Multipoint inspection" and the CPO inspection?

I cannot find the Dealer Multi point data sheet anywhere so far. I have contacted the dealership that last serviced my new to me 2006 ls430 and from the Lexus Owners site, a multipoint inspection was done just a few thousand miles ago. I have asked them for the results of that inspection...but only got a recorded answering machine.

Thanks!

I'd have to look at the paperwork, as I've been to a dealer only once, but I know they recommended the LCA bushings be replaced as a result of the multi point inspection when the vehicle was in for a brake fluid flush and coolant drain. I could swear they noted the amount of brake pad remaining, etc. imho these are a tool to sell services, and to also document. CPO is a sales tool. A good question would be why is a service needed every 5k, to check this, check that, because the multipoint, if done properly, will be checking a lot of things...

here's the actual cpo inspection

edit the multipoint inspection I thought is stapled to the invoice...

The multi point and CPO inspection definetly overlap each other. The CPO mandates certain requirements and standards are met to offer the extended certification warranty. The multi point is more of a courtesy and suggests what should be replaced but it is not mandatory like the Lexus CPO.

Ah....I was planning on pulling my paperwork out to see what it said. I almost wonder now if I am thinking of the time I took my car to Toyota for a state inspection, there were clearly sheets stapled to the invoice that listed the brake lining remaining in 1/32's, etc. Now I wonder if Lexus had the same stapled or not....

Just received the full multi point but not cpo inspection report.

The dealership in Lexington Ky was most helpful. I gave them the VIN and they sent me redacted (prior owners data) reports for both the timing belt service and a later thrurough check up of all things lubricated, rubber or running gear related.

Having the inspection especially since it was just done prior to me buying the car eases the doubts of my purchasing it online.

The fact that a Lexus dealership actually keeps tabson this data is noteworthy. No other vehicle I have owned has done this as well as Lexus.

Great stuff!

I looked at mine, Lexus was a dealer form, Toyota was an official Toyota. Toyota was the most thorough. Front brakes 12/32 (new), rear 10/32. Lexus said 9/32 all around. Again, comes back to integrity and if they really looked. This is likely why so many (my other forum) cpo s have problems imho. It's a sales tool imho....

No doubt about the "it's a sales tool".... but when they look to find something to fix and nothing needs fixin'.... it is like going to the dentist and hearing "no cavities".
