Lexus LS 500
Ok 430 guys just seen the new ls 500 what is everyones opinion? I love the inside but outside looks like a big hyundai and twin turbo 6 cylinder I don't know. What about longevity?

Not a fan one bit. I thought they were showing an Infiniti. I highly doubt the look will 'grow on me'. The only thing that grows on people are warts and gangrene.
The 2009 body style is my personal favorite of the LS's. REALLY love the 2000 LS too. I'm a traditional guy though.

The styling is a bit bold for my taste, the grill is just too over the top.
It doesn't have a V8. Thanks again CAFE. Twin turbo v6 with a 10 speed transmission. Sounds like maintenance nightmare long term but you'll save 50 cents a week on gas.
I do think the era of going hundreds of thousands of miles on a flagship Lexus with minimal repairs is long gone. It will probably still be more reliable than say a flagship Audi or BMW (that's not saying much), but I'm not sure I would trust something like this much past the factory warranty. We'll have to wait and see.

how much difference is there between a standard 3.5 litre engine and the one that they put twin turbo on? cant imagine that they are the same.

Don't like it. Fugly, overdone exterior and no V8. I was hoping this was going to be another LS400 moment for Lexus, but I think they have jumped the shark with that rolling atrocity. My current 430 will probably be my last Lexus unless I can find another low mileage 430 down the road. Otherwise, might be going the way of a Tesla Model S in a couple of years. Sad.

geez, take a questionable design cue (the catfish mouth) and double down on it for more ugliness. How is this possible. What demographic are they talking to that pushes them in this direction? Do they really believe that designing all the swoops and swooshes and z's in the body panels make the car more sporty like a BMW? Do they really think their loyal customers can be fooled like that?
guess i don't care too much about the V6 but the 10sp tranny is pure marketing nonsense.

in reality probably very few of us. So yeah Toyota may well have done some careful analysis and concluded they can annoy this demographic, not lose too much, because there is so much more to be gained going after the sporty luxury crowd and faking it. Who knows.

Trying too hard, the opposite of its competition. A S8 blew my doors in this am, it's pretty hard to tell the difference between a S8, A8L, A6, S6, etc. The S8 driver doesn't really care if everyone knows it's an S. I feel Lexus is the opposite, it has to tell everyone. I think that's why we likely enjoy the old LS430, it's not tacky in any way.
I just had a discussion with one of the sr vps yesterday as she was taking her BMW in for service. We agreed how generally poor it is, etc., and I mentioned Lexus is a joke, they may not give you a loaner for every little thing, but the way they treat you is as a human. She said, yeah, I looked at their cars but I can't stand that angry face, and they don't drive very well. That's honest feedback. My friend summed it up, a LS is a sofa on wheels. The new one is trying to be something else. It's just me, but you cannot be taken seriously with a V6 motor, despite the numbers. Not at that level...

Lexus Champion
I owuld guess very, very few. 3rd gen owners have become younger generation people who are looking for a luxury car at a cheap price, but can't afford to purchase a new Lexus LS. I doubt that Lexus even considered current 3rd gen owners as part of their target potential buyers. Why should they?

Not me. I buy used and try to keep it under 25K out the door, so by the time that car is in that price range, it'll be at least 10-12 years from now and I'm sure by then I'll have an electric something-or-other...
