Trunk Latch Relay on '05 LS430 Keeps Clicking
I just purchased an '05 Lexus LS430 (w/no navigation, thankfully). Whenever I push the button on the trunk lid to open the trunk (or use the interior trunk release), the trunk relay clicks five times over the course of about six seconds. If I lift the lid during the clicking, I can get into the trunk, but the clicking continues until it's clicked five times. If I wait until it stops, the trunk won't open. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong, and if it's something I can fix myself?

Well, the trunk latch finally failed completely. The local Lexus dealer wanted $970 to fix it, which included -- get this -- $804 just for the new latch. I ordered a brand new one (still in a Lexus factory-sealed carton) from dealer on eBay for $385 (still pretty darn pricey if you ask me). It took about 40 minutes to swap it out, mostly because I was super-cautious in removing the trunk liner for fear I'd damage it.
$970 vs. $385. Pretty good DIY investment!
