Default Rear sunshade stuck in the up position

I have searched the forums and found may posts on rear sunshades but the majority is ripped fabric or them not going up. The one I found on them stuck in the up position didn't have a solution or much talk on it.

As soon as I get a minute I am first and foremost going to check the fuse but i've been pulling 14 hour days and only bought the car on sunday.

But if the fuse isn't the problem for now I just want a way to put it in the down position.

Is there a way to do this without having to pull the rear seat/panels/rear deck that is referenced in all the motor replacement threads for it. I don't want to do that right now as I don't have $1500 lying around for a new one. I'll do that eventually when I find one from a salvage yard but for now I just want the dang thing down.

Be sure to also check the relay (see drawing below).

Sweet!!! thanks I knew which fuse it was but must have missed the relay in the owners manual.

That brings up another point.

Where is a good place to get a FSM for the vehicle? Are there any on CD? The prices for them that i've seen are almost triple for what my LX450 fsm was.

I have not seen CD's versions, but printed copies are readily available on eBay. Alternately, you can post your questions here on this forum - there's no shortage of Gurus on here!

OMG, $60 for a relay!!!

Here is the inspection procedure before you buy a new relay or pull the rear deck apart...

changed the fuse and got the denso equivalent relay for $10 off of amazon.

Still nothing, just a click when I hit the button.

Is there a way to put the shade down manually or just remove it without having to pull out the rear seats and the deck to get to it?

Hi, I'm having the same problem on a 4th generation, just a click but nothing moves. How did you manage to fix the problem (if you did) ?

Special thanks for the provision of diagrams and literature.
@lt1fire , I looked around some of the popular discount sites, but couldn't see in the diagrams. I would say find out if the motor is sold separate from the shade. Yeah, the shade is crazy cost, nearly $1200 at OEMvehicleparts.com, but perhaps the motor, while still expensive, would be a lot less??

Anyway, I feel your frustration and if and when you come to your solution, please update this thread, as I fear little situations like this that have big price tags!

I found a used one from a scrap parts dealer, 50$ including the shipping. I still don't know if the shade itself is broken or if this is a fuse / relay, but as the whole rear seats needs to be removed to replace the shade I prefer to have a replacement one aside if mine is not fixable. Given I do hear a click but nothing moves, I assume the motor to be stuck somewhere, perhaps I am wrong and a fuse / relay replacement would do it… I don't know

If you hear a click the motor is trying to engage. Take the rear package trey and push it and pull it to determine if somehow it’s stopping the shade from retracting. After doing rear strut mounts on mine the shade would not go up. I heard the motor clicking and lo and behold the trey wasn’t fully seated. Who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky.
