Eng and VSC faults for 2000 LS430
Hi guys, new guy here with a JDM-spec 5 speed LS430 (refurbished locally to Toyota NZ standards upon importing), and I have a pair of electrical faults that are driving me round the twist. I already know the codes and what they're for but trying to track down the problem itself is the fun part
Fault 1: Check Eng: This one is to do with the shift selector inhibitor switch circuit. The D light is permanently lit until you chop it into 4th 3rd and 2nd, at which point the 4 light is remaining lit, chop back over to L and the D light comes back on. The inhibitor switch itself has already been replaced (by the previous owner) but this hasn't cured the issue. The auto electrician has already had a brief crack at it and (among other things) left the ECU and battery disconnected overnight. This sorted the problem for about a week and then became an intermittent problem until the other day where it is now returned to being a continuous problem. Has anyone else had this kind of issue?
Fault 2: Check VSC: The code stored is due to the steering angle sensor reading 1150 degrees of wheel lock. This was a result of the battery being run flat and the sensor getting low voltage and burning out. My question: Is the sensor part of the clock spring assembly or is it a separate unit? Trying to save a bit of time here rather than pulling everything to pieces and not having a car to use if it goes pear shaped. The low voltage issue won't be happening again as it has just had a red top 1000cca Optima battery fitted
Cheers in advance
