DIY: Raise Engine & Transmission
Sup Fellas,
Gonna be showing you guys how i raised my oil pan and transmission so that they sit above the subframe
You may or may not have seen my thread in the "LS430 Build Thread" section.
But im taking my car really really low, and i could use as much possible clearance as i can when it comes to the oil pan
So i picked up a set of 10mm spacers from Central Pine, you can message Sam Hagen on Facebook and he will sort you out, or you can machine them yourself if you have the means to do so
But anyway, lets start.
Tools I Used.
Floor Jack
2 Jack Stands
1 Impact Gun (you can use a socket wrench)
Wood
10mm socket
17mm socket
12 or 14 mm socket (cant remember the size lol)
Here are the spacers
Next Raise The Car Up:
i raise mine from the middle of the front subframe (while its still high)
i put the car on jack stands
Not shown, but remove wheels (i did just for better access to slide the spacers in
Next i removed the cover (looking back i dont think its necessary, but i depending on how wide your piece of wood is, it may make contact with the cover)
theres 4 10mm screws and 2 mm nuts that hold this cover on
Next a 17mm deep socket to loosen the engine mount nuts from the bottom
i loosened them but did not remove the nut all the way (as i dont need it to come out)
next i used a piece of 2x4 and carefully raised up the engine by my oil pan. key word being carefully. (picture was taken post install, thats when i noticed that you may or may not have to remove that cover i mentioned earlier)
then just slide your spacer in on both sides, i also checked clearance up top with the engine and the firewire/hood area and it was fine.
now heres a before and after of oil pan to subframe
next is the transmission mount spacers, (i cant remember the socket size but it was either a 12 or 14mm)
heres where they are located and heres how it looks after, if you managed to to the engine spacers its the same idea, loosen the bolts, not all the way off, carefully raise transmission via tranny pan with block of wood CAREFULLY.
just enough to slide the spacers in
and yes i know that my transmission seal is leaking a bit, thats next on my list to take care of lol

Rob, thanks for the well prepared writeup!
I been thinking to do this, but then I been thinking to avoid this by not riding too low...
I saw a bunch of t-demand stuff and the coilovers posted for sale - I thought you dropped this project and selling off all the parts?
Or it's someone else's stuff?

I know old thread, but what are approximate dimensions for these spacers? 10mm thick for engine, 7mm thick for trans. What about overall diameter and width of the bolt slot? Might try to fab my own.

Theyre not too expensive I used these and it was straightforward
