Default Exterior B pillar trim options

I attempted to ask this in an earlier thread that was a total fail . The black plastic film that covers the exterior B pillar trim has flaked off in one spot and is showing similar wear in another . I believe one can buy a complete panel from the dealer but I am wondering if there is any other options, like a replacement for the plastic film only?? Appears to be a straight forward project but if anyone has done this and feels otherwise , please let me know/

A suggestion would be to try and remove the entire black paint and you can have it wrapped in vinyl to obtain that same OEM look again.

thats a good idea, the black material that is flaking off does actually seem to be a vinyl like film wrapped over the brushed metal trim piece .

Think about buying one from a junkyard (excuse me, recycling facility. Just a thought.

i was thinking in that direction as the new trim panels are about $150 each. It's an aesthetic issue only but it is a LS so it HAS to look good!
