Gently driven in Iowa (not in winters) by a now retired FL woman ... (Southwest Air flies cheap into Ft. Myers.)

I called him 2 weeks ago. Made a deal over the phone. Told him I was gonna fly from Cali and he stopped responding. I took it as a sign that it's not meant to be for whatever reason.

I was dead serious about flying to FL. Seller sounded legit over the phone. We communicated thru email, text, and on the phone. He gave me a price he was willing to let it go for and I agreed. I told him I'd call him back in a few hours to pick a day to meet and poof....that was it from him. I love that interior, the color was "ehhh" but better than my current, boring silver. I wanted it sooooo bad but now I'm so over it. ill wait for another saddle-interior (non black ext) to pop up.

I bet these could be all older buyers scarred off buy the fly and drive scenario? Could u get an inspection, pictures car pans out as excellent. Have the fella meet at his bank with your banker, video phone with you to fax and sign the title pay to the bank and pay for storage somewhere till u got there or get a car hauler?

Highly likely they talked with someone and got cold feet. Seniors are bombarded with warnings about scams. Craigslist has had some bad press too. The seller doesn't understand why someone would travel cross-country for it; assumes something's not right. Too bad you weren't able to acquire it.

I did get a reply to my email, but no carfax.

Said the original wheels are gone (ugh), and that he would take more pics.

this was my first thought. He probably think it's a scam. At that point I didn't even bother explaining to him. Great deal for someone local. I was so close....so close. !!!

I wouldn't have even hassled him. 10 min test drive and pay him cash. No need for inspection, or banker , or a hauler. Give cash, sign over the title and I'll begin my road trip.

Owner said there are scraps on front and rear bumpers and was sending pics. This is all I received ...so far.

Wow! I didn't expect that ...explains the low offer price. Skip encouraged me so much , I asked for and received the Carfax ... shows "damage reported after accident or incident" to right rear too.

Not one for the museum, Skip.

Tom,

I thought the price was low because of the wheels.

haha

Tod said the damage is minimal and is "star shaped".

We will see.

This museum assemblage could be more difficult than first imagined.

Not sure where you are in Nor Cal but there are plenty of good private Bay Area deals. Lots sold there originally. It's a "get the groceries" car in Silicon Valley. In Sac, it's harder to find something nice but they do show up if you're patient. Many gold/white/silver/black. It is harder to find something in Cypress, Briarwood, Flint Mica or Blue Onyx.
