And here is the Carfax: http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...BN36F840160901

The only issues I saw of note was a headlight leveler issue, which the owner declined to repair. Also, it has not had the timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt replaced yet.

Looks to be in great shape.
It looks like a legit dealer who is concerned about their reputation.

Ask them about the Check Service Warning on the dash. Other than a couple of wheels, it seems like a nice car.

Above all, get it independently checked - those items may point to an owner who didn't do maintenance.

I've been dealing with the same sales guy for a few months now. He seems legit. Pleasant guy too. I've asked him for reassurance on multiple occasions that there's no issues I should know about, seeing as they're over 2 hours from me. He has said time and time again that there are none. I asked about the headlight leveler/flickering issue, he says he's never seen it. Maybe it was an intermittent aberration.

But I hope to put the deposit down today and go check it out & pick it up Saturday.

Beautiful color combo, 1 Owner, clean carfax, looks like these guys purchased it directly from the original dealer too. Roughly 10k miles per year avg. I'm hoping I get a good one here!

EDIT: As for the wheels, I'm going to get some new 17's and put these tires on them, and use the OEM wheels for winter tires.

Do you think that it's a good time to be considering the purchase of a car which is in Baton Rouge? A boat maybe although it seems as though most floating shallow draft examples are being used just now.

If the OP has not purchased a car yet. He/she will be chasing cars everywhere... Good LS430s are gobbled up quickly. Too much research will help in losing a good car so be prepared to be disappointed. Read, learn, and jump on a good well maintained car. period.

I appreciate all of you guys perspectives. I have also been debating going up to a 460L. Since it is a 3rd car and a DD, with about 25k a year put on, I dont want to take a huge hit on depreciation. So, i am still looking for the perfect car. I am really torn between the 430 and 460, because the newer car prices are getting within a few thousand of a 2004 or 5.
Thanks again, I will come back to the well for more advice once I have pinned it down a little narrower,.

Yes, these cars are going to sell. If you are concerned about depreciation why still looking at the LS460? Yes the high mileage 2006-7 is close in price to later low mileage LS430s.. That is primarily because of the issues with early LS460s.. The LS430s are without a doubt the better car except they are aging. Do your homework and try to make a good decision. Yes. The LS460 as well as most cars are inferior in craftmanship and materials.. Don't expect the same bullet proof car. It goes across the board wiith other manufacturers as well. Good luck and I hope you make a good decision.

I would have to agree with Bocatrip, if you are worried about depreciation, you should be looking at 430's. They are so cheap as they are that you can't really loose that much! I bet I have lost a ton on my 2011 460L and I just bought it two months ago! Just wait until the new models and they will take another dive I am sure.

Thanks for all the info, guys. I drove two Ls 460's last night, an 08 and a 07, both with just over 80k on them. I was not particularly impressed. Nice enough, but did not feel the "I have to buy this car" feeling, so back to 430's.

Looks like it will be one of these:
http://www.motorcarslouisiana.com/20...-430-c-197.htm
In Baton Rouge, about 4 hrs from here, no big deal as I can take my wife gambling at the same time. Looks clean, Carfax was ok, not great. Paying for a mechanic now to take the timing cover off to see the belt condition. He says $1100 plus tax for the belt/WP, way to much. Needs battery now, soon front tires and alignment, brakes below 50%. Other than that all good. Price of $10,500, plus $150 for mech services/inspections. Battery-$160, Brakes $500, 4 tires $900. With sales tax and fees, around $14k total in.

This was the car of a guy here on the forum, I just missed him selling it. The dealer will not drop below $15500 out the door, but it has excellent maintenance hx, new timing belt, good stereo, etc.
The interior is not quite as nice IMO, but that is personal choice.
The cons are it is a less valuable car due to no backup camera, no Mark Levinson, etc.
So, what do you guys think? I like the silver one the most, but it is only looking at about a $1200-1500 difference over the first 60 days or so.
Thanks again for everybody's input.
Ok, I decided on the silver/black in Baton Rouge, I can do all of the repairs myself and have a practically new running car for under $14k, thanks again for all of you guys input!
