Check for a cracked front Y-pipe near the heat shields. This is the most common cause of P0430 / P0420 on this car. If so replace with Davico 58140 from Rock Auto. Price is approx 200-300 dollars. OEM part is $1200-1500.

For my 2003 LS430 that was the part that fixed my P0430 catalyst low efficiency problem. There are heat shields on the OEM part. Somehow they cause the pipe to rust out right at the transition of the heat shield to the pipe. When I removed it I saw holes on both sides. This is a VERY common problem on this car.

There are O2 sensors that are threaded into that pipe - one on each side. For some reason they don't like the holes in the exhaust downstream, which is why they throw the code.

The OEM part is $1500 before tax up here in Quebec. The 58410 part from Rock Auto was $300 shipped to my door and a couple of beers for my friend and I to install it. For me it was bolt and go - no modifications to the pipe necessary.

I got the P0430 fault code and the "Help" section shows: Catalytic Converter, Wiring, HO2S 2
Is it caused by the wire which was not connected probably? I did change 2 brand new oxygen sensors last month.

Thanks and appreciate.

How did you retrieve the codes? How do you know it's the wiring? Is this though Toyota Techstream?

I got a portable scan tool named Vgate VS890. I read the fault code the it showed P0430. Moreover, the scanner has the Help function to show as picture attached below:

Ok thanks for the info. P0430 on this car is usually "Catalyst Low Efficiency Bank 2". What you may be seeing there are a list of possible issues that could cause this fault code.

On the LS430s these codes frequently pop up when there is a crack or hole in the front Y pipe. If you look underneath the car you will see a series of sheetmetal heat shields clamped to the exhaust pipe shaped like a Y at the middle-to-front of the car. This pipe connects the two catalytic converters located in the engine bay to the resonator. Have a look at the spot where the heat shields end - near where two of the oxygen sensors are screwed into the pipe itself. If you see holes in the pipe or can hear a louder, raspy exhaust, replace this pipe and it should fix the problem. You may need to remove the heat shields to see evidence of the holes/cracks, but in my case it was easy to see without removing them.

If it is not this then more troubleshooting will be required, but start with this first as its a very common problem.

@Arcturus: thanks for your info. I will inspect the Y pipe and two catalyst converters when doing the next oil change. And will have response to ya.

Once again, thanks a lot.
