Rear wheel bearing and steering knuckle
I believe the rear wheel bearing is going on my '02 UL with 150k. It's ok, I hear the constant high pitched whine and know that parts wear out. I spoke to a dealer this week and they said I need to replace the bearing and the steering knuckle together. This sounded very peculiar and expensive. Has anyone heard this before? I thought the wheel bearing was a relatively simple repair, albeit a little pricey.
Also, if anyone knows of a good independent shop in the metro Detroit area, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I would ask why the knuckle needs to be replaced. In fact I would ask from a second opinion from another shop and get them to show you how they know it's the hub. Certain dealers are known to upsell.
PS if you are mechanically inclined, you can do this yourself. There should be some DiY instructions on this website.
