Hello all. I have just discovered this great forum.

We have been looking for a nice 3rd gen LS with the Ultimate Luxury Package. I have seen a couple advertised as such here in the greater Chicago area that were not! Why so rare a beast? Any suggestions on where to look besides Craigslist and on here?

Ultra package isnt that hard to find. The problem is most dealers dont know what package the car is so they wont list them as an ultra, custom, premium, modern lux etc.

Biggest thing to look for in the pictures is the windshield washer nozzles under the headlights, rear seat controls and the fridge as well as the side curtains.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have looked at quite a few postings on various sites but they do not have any UL ones. i also noticed that the UL package cars have several more rocker switches on the lower part of the center console.

yup over a standard car they have a switch for the headlight sprayers, ability to put suspension in normal versus sport and normal setting for height or high setting

Custom luxury also had headlight washers. Best to look in back seat and look for the control panel or the memory seat buttons on the rear door panels by the handle if the dealer doesn't have the rear seat armrest down.

You can also look for the A/C vents located above each rear door, they're easy to see.

Just bought one myself this week. Rear A/c controls is a normal giveaway as well as vents above the rear passenger door. Enjoy the car It's fantastic. Mine is a 2001 full history all the keys books etc... can't believe it made me leave my M6 at home.

Congrats to you and the OP! What year is your M6? How does it stack up to the overall experience compared to that car? I purchased my 02 UL after having my m3 and I absolutely love the entire time I've owned my ls430.

My M6 is a 2009 and from my opinion they're two different cars I normally only drive the M6 on weekends. But the LS is such a "car of all seasons" it has everything from soft close doors to 3 zone a/c. I'm doing slight modifications to modernise it such as Wheels but apart from that I'm leaving it stock. I have not been able to leave it alone since I got it. Don't get me wrong the M6 is a beast it's like a motorbike in car form. But that suspension never lets you forget your in an M car and it's always in race mode.

from the outside, look at the front grill....look for the radar sensor right behind the lexus logo, a clear plastic plate...
