Default the search begins LS430

Hey guys I recently sold my 1G IS300 and now I'm looking to get into a LS430 . What should I look for when I test drive? Any known issues I should be aware of? What are the more desirable features? Most desirable year? What could I expect to pick up with a 12k budget?

04-06 models i would say are the most desirable.also look at this link for model differences.

Lots of people like the ultra luxury because it's fully loaded including air suspension. However the air suspension is known to go out and repairs can cost around $1k a corner.

What's your ideal color combo?

The Custom Luxury package '05 - '06 years are best of breed for the 430 - IMO. They are somewhat rare, offering all of the features and upgrades of the Ultra Luxury package, but without air suspension, rear seat cooler box (which makes trunk space smaller), and rear seat radio controls and rear seat massager.

Any LS430 is a good choice if the car is a well serviced, well maintained original car. Don't make the mistake to limit yourself too much with color combos , equipment etc or you might just miss the right car. The word has been out for awhile about the LS430 and they are very much in demand. Dealerships have a waiting list most likely within their employees so the good ones go fast. Good luck.

Will do.. I personally have no preference when it comes to color.. if I can get black or white I'd be more happy but basically reliability and longevity is what I'm aiming for.. I'll read up on all the different options when I get home from work. Hopefully i get to join you guys soon!

If you never drove a LS 430, I suggest going to a dealership and drive one (even if the price is high) just to be able to get into one and driving it for a long distance to see if it will suit you well

I have a '06 CL in Mercury Metallic and just acquired a super low miles '05 CL in Moonlight Pearl. Black Cherry is a nice color.

Wish you luck they are out there. Maintenance history is always #1 so you know what you are getting into. Private party and you can use that as leverage. Knowing what those mileage bands on specific recommended maintenance before meeting is a sold tool for you. Some owners have no clue what is coming up nor the cost of the parts and work. There are tools available that will give you the upper hand to close the deal.

Love my 2006

Noticed a later series 430 in front of me yesterday and waited for the owner to park as I parked next to him. The car was in show condition and the same Millenium Silver as mine. I asked the elderly gentlemen if he would consider selling and his answer was "Why would I sell the best car I have ever owned?" His was an 04 with Nav and 100K. I gave him my business card. It's not easy getting one directly from the owner. They usually either die and the family gives it away or they trade it in to the stealership for nothing.

That is the absolute truth, Boca. My recent purchase of a '05 CL with 51K miles was from a Ford dealer in Tennessee - that didn't know much about the CL package and desirability of the car. The dealer was selling it for a friend who owned it since new and was too old to drive it anymore. I had been looking specifically for a low mileage, well-maintained Moonlight Pearl color (for the wife) for quite some time, and finally got very lucky - interior Ecru color too. Flew to TN, drove it back to IL. The interior still smells new. Fine examples of the LS are still out there. Research and patience is key.

What do you guys think about this one? One owner, maintained at Lexus with documentation. Timing belt etc completed at 100k miles.

^Beautiful car

Mine has about 40K less miles. Gorgeous, love my color. Also mine with the sports suspension and fat 5 spoke wheels really updates the look

Good luck

That's a good price and the TB was done... one owner... lexus service history... clean title... those are all the main things brotha you need to show up tomorrow morning ready to talk business before some swoops.

Not a big deal but I also look at other stuff in photos... neighborhood looks pretty established, several nice cars around, tissue boxes in the rear window usually mean older drivers = light use, it rained but the car is spotless so it's probably always garaged.

Not a guarantee measure but those would lead me to believe that they take care of their stuff. It's prob going to be one of the safest private party sales without any hidden issues you will find on craigslist.

I would buy it no doubt. The down side to this post though is someone on here knows someone in that area who is looking for an LS430 lol... telling you don't sleep on it.
