Default 3rd alternator since Feb 3rd.

So I'm going to be swapping out for my 3rd alternator tomorrow. I've been getting them refurbished from O'Reillys aka kragens. Is this normal or has anyone else had problems with products like this from them? It's a pain because it takes about a hour from start to finish

I've heard of people having issue with non-Denso alternators.

Lifetime Warranty part?! That doesn't mean anything except that you'll spend the rest of your lifetime removing and replacing it. Learned long ago to stay far, far away from O'Reilly / Auto Zone etc lifetime warranty parts such as alternators, power steering pumps, water pumps etc. OEM if you want it to last.

On your third alternator? This makes me wondered if those alternators were bad or something in your car is killing them.

What can cause them to be killed? I have a system hooked up and never had problems with the set up in my other cars. But now that I think about it it was wired all ready. Who knows how good the job is. I've always paid good money for a right install

It's not your after-market sound system that is killing your alternator. Your alternator is non-OEM cheap Chinese junk. You get what you pay for and it costs you in breakdowns and labor. Lifetime warranty on the part typically means lifetime of changing it out. Buy an OEM Denso alternator (Amazon) and it will last 150K miles and beyond.

Yeah I've been reading and Denson seems like a great brand. Also I remember seeing on the box when replacing the alternator MADE IN Mexico... pretty sure they don't make the best stuff lol. FYI I'm not racist

Return it and get your money back and order a Denso alternator from Lexus.

You should be able to get the Denso from RockAuto.com for less than Lexus.
