Default Low Tire Light On But Tires Are All Correct PSI? HELP

I have had my TPMS Low Tire Warning Light come on twice and when i checked tires all were at the correct pressure. I did the reset each time and the warning came back.

What am I missing? Is the spare tire linked into the TPMS system on the LS430 models?

Ls430 uses variance in wheel rotations based on the abs system to detect "low pressure" not an actual pressure sensor. If you reset after each time it came on, you might have a bad abs sensor.

Use the detailed instructions in the manual to initialize the system. It is not enough to just reset the warning light. The system works by measuring differential wheel rotation based on tire diameter from an initialized setting using the ABS system. There are no pressure sensors in the wheels and certainly no sensor of any kind associated with the spare.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to try the re-initialize step to see if that works. Is this in the owners manual or do i need a service manual?

Hold the tpms reset button until initialize message appears and drive on the highway for a bit.

Yes just a button under the dash where your knees would be.

Thanks for the help I'll re-initialize and go from there. I had tires replaced a month or so ago and it probably needed to be done then.

While the car is stopped, turn ignition to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine. Hold the button located near the throttle pedal for at least 3 seconds to reset. hold the same button for 10-12 seconds to "initialize" the system. That should resolve your issue.

No the spare tire is not "linked" (what ever that means). The LS430 TPMS uses the ABS system on the car to measure wheel rotation and infers a difference in wheel rotation to mean a change in tire diameter and hence a change in tire air pressure.

The LS430 ABS based TPMS only tracks change in tire size (diameter) on the 4 driving wheels, it does not use air pressure sensors in the wheels, it has no idea what the actual air pressure is in the tires, and it has absolutely no ability to monitor the spare tire.

Are all 4 of your tires of the same brand and model? A slight difference in tire diameter (due to difference in tire design) will cause the system to trip, even if all 4 tires are filled to the same pressure reading.

Yes all 4 tires are brand new Michelin premiers. I initialized the system and everything seems to be good now. No tire light after driving.

It took some trial and error before I figured out the "first" reset after 3 seconds is not enough. You have to initialize it as well. It would keep clearing the message and then coming back.

Also, I may be wrong, but I think all the doors need to also be shut while you're doing it.
