My 2001 LS with 159,000 miles has what seems to be a noisy left rear strut that is driving me crazy. The dampening of the strut is fine, but as I drive at very slow speeds in the city, it creaks continually. I had the same symptom years ago with one of my front struts, which I had replaced when I first got my car. Now, I don't really want to go through the expense of replacing a rear strut just because of the noise which is considerably more labor than the fronts. My Indy told me it could go on forever with that noise and still function. I've seen on You Tube, a method of getting behind the rubber sleeve and shooting some silicone spray up into the shock/strut area. I know this is a temporary fix, but I'm willing to at least try to quiet it down. There is no noticeable noise when driving 40-50+. Has anyone tried this mickey mouse fix and is so, how do you get the lubricant through that rubber sleeve on the strut? Thanks all.

You may only need to replace the strut mount. KYB SM5566. But, have to remove the strut to replace them.

Thanks chuvrobles....I appreciate that thought....It's the labor to remove the seat and get the strut out that's my concern and why I'm looking for any shortcut. If it gets removed, of course the strut will get replaced anyway. Thanks again.

I just replace the rear struts in my non UL 430. It took me about 5 hrs to do the first one and about 1.5 hrs for the second (after I learned how to do it the right way. Removing the seats and getting access to the top of the struts is the easiest part of the process. It's 7 bolts and 3 nuts to get it out of the car. You can flex the top shelf enough to get to the top of the strut mounts. Possibly you may just need to tighten the top strut nuts.
