Default Advice on purchasing a 02 LS430

Could someone tell me what a good price would be for a 02 LS430, it is white with no navi or ML, it looks clean and has 155k miles on it. I checked it out on mylexus and it does not look like the timing belt has been serviced. The owner said he never had it replaced.

I would like to pay anywhere between $4500-$5000, but do you guys think that is too much considering the mileage and the lack of service.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

at least in the dallas area, 01-03's are going for $6-$8k with that kind of miles. Is the seller the original owner? Timing belts can be done by indy shops or other mechanics doesn't have to have had been done by a Lexus dealership so while it is a cause of concern, don't let that be your sole source of info =)

The seller should have no issues selling that in the $6k range. Just as a reference, 02 base model LS430 (no ML or navi) with 212k miles being sold at a Toyota dealer for $8500 here in the Dallas area.

I agree. If the car is clean and well maintained, along with records, I would go with the max $8K.

I agree that LS430s between 01-03 willl just about always bring 6-8 regardless of miles. even super high miles bring cars in this range if in nice condition. In absolutely exceptional condition with under 100K you may find them in the 9,000+ range and sometimes more..... and they do sell.

$4500-$5000 is not the norm unless with an uneducated seller or a exceptionally very rough car. Remember that very rough LS430s can easily cost twice in initial iinvestment to bring to decent running condition.
