Default Driver Door Wind Noise/Gasket

Any advice on the gasket replacement or door adjustment for wind noise?

Driver door leaks and has a terrible wind noise.

I did try and put a small water line inside the current gasket, but I think it needs a replacement as it only helped a little.

I greased all of the rubber with Griots and the door looks to close as designed.

2005 w/70K in Denver area.

Just this, basically, the solution to all and every little piece of noise.

Amazon.com: 303 (30313-CSR) Aerospace Protectant Trigger Sprayer, 32 Fl. oz.: Automotive Amazon.com: 303 (30313-CSR) Aerospace Protectant Trigger Sprayer, 32 Fl. oz.: Automotive

Or Honda, Shin Etsu grease. Both are amazing. I think the grease holds up for a longer time though.

If the rubber is damaged do a Google search for weatherstrip using your cars make/model/year. eBay has some for about half of what some dealers charge.

There are other causes of wind noise at a door besides a defective gasket. The driver door wind noise problem on a Lexus (2000 LS400) I used to have was caused by slightly bent door hinges. Having the hinges replaced solved the problem. I had a similar wind noise problem on a Mercedes back in early 1980's but its hinges could be adjusted to get rid of the wind noise.

I agree, that is another area of concern.

I once bent the horizontal chrome piece on the door, that holds on to the windows lip. I did that while trying to remove them without having the mirrors taken off first. So they were kind of bent in the way the air comes and hits the car. As soon as I drove the car, I noticed the wind noise coming from it's direction. Even though it was bent just like an inch or two.

Had to get a new one so it can quiet back down.

One of our fits world problems with the LS430, it is so quiet you can hear an ant walking on the outside of the car.

I have a wind noise too when putting the drivers window up all the way. I back it off just a small bump and it stops. I suspect there's a crack in the rubber moulding that gets opened up when I put the window all the way up. If I back it off a little it seems to stop. Not a big enough inconvenience yet to require the changeout of the moulding.

Hey man, just as mentioned above Shin Etsu grease is great, even in this dry climate. I just went to Honda and picked some up real quick about a year ago. I didn't really have and wind noise, but still wanted to make sure the rubber stays supple. Where are you at in the Denver area? I'm in Englewood. I have a 2001 UL and just hit 101,000 miles. She's my baby and she's perfect!
