My 430 had 17s, but when shopping for CPO 05s and 06s I felt the 18s notably increased the feeling of bumps, sharpness of bumps, etc.

05 came with 17 inch alloy wheels. upgrade to 17 inch chrome or 18 inch alloy wheels at the dealer. what your spare wheel is probably what came on the car. I had a 17 inch alloy spare, but 17 inch chrome wheels were added at the dealer when it was sold. 17 inch chrome wheels are about $250 and 18 inch alloy wheels are about $300 at the auto recyclers I bought a chrome wheel for a matching spare. you can have the 17 inch alloy spare as I am trying to give it away

17 inch wheels will give you longer tire life and less abuse transferred to the suspension which equals longer life.

I did check the spare tire to make sure it was the same size as the other 4 tires. The spare tire is an 18".
So I am assuming that the car came with 18" when it was brand new?

good to know. my car originated from Park Place Lexus in Plano I think. register at my lexus (free) and find out where yours came from. if car was a cpo there could be dealer records to 100,000 miles. mine went to 67,000 and I got it with 72,000. lost all the keys and on used car lot in Amarillo.

you can check the tire placard on the drivers door jam. if it shows 17 as the original size, it came with 17s. if it says 2454518, it came with 18s

Default 18's on my 2005 Lexus LS430

The car was definitely available with 18s from the factory as well, was not only a dealer installed option.

Mine's an '05 with 18" wheels from factory. That's the way it was ordered. Glad to see that your spare is an 18" wheel as well. Now stop worrying and drive more!

Just wanted to point out that stiffness of the side wal need to be taken into consideration, each tier will have different feel.
As an example 245/45-18 a run flat or a sport tier will have a harsher ride & more noise than other type of tiers.
My pint is you need to compare the 17 & 18 on the same tier (brand, speed & load ratings).

Those wheels are very common on the 05 and 06 models. I've never seen an 05 or 06 without them. The 01 to 04 usually had the 16 or 17 inch wheels on them.

My 05 Ultra Luxury came with those very same 18 inch wheels. I have the OEM 16 inch wheels on my 02 LS430 and it rides smoother than my 05 on OEM 18's did.

The sticker inside the drivers side door said the tires are 18's.

The 16s were standard in 2001 and 2002. The style wheels were different though, the 2002 had the 2000 Platinum edition wheels in a painted finish. In 2003 the 17s became the standard and only option I believe.

In 2004 there was no 16" option, 17" standard optional 18s.

I think he was wanting four wheels.

Found this interesting article on the difference in tire sizes for a car.
